Unprototypical prototype pictures

I was cleaning up some files tonight when I came across this photo I took last year at a plant in Winnipeg, MB. That got me thinking about things you could model that just wouldn't look prototypical even though they're modelled after actual prototypes. Set offs with no road is a good example. Do you have any unprototypical prototype photos?

Model Yard Location

In thinking about a potential new design for a layout one has to decide where to place a main yard. Obviously the space available is a factor in the decision, but what I am going for here is if you are planning to model a prototype location. Lets say for arguments sake Atlanta GA. in 2000. Inman Yard is a large classification yard, too big to model, but with selective compression a decent representation could be done. From Atlanta trains go North to Chattanooga, South to Macon, East to Birmingham and Northeast to Greenville SC.

Model Railroader Book "Compact Layout Design" by Iain Rice. Good for Beginners.

Has anybody read the Iain's book "Compact Layout Design?"  I picked up this book at Discount Model a Trains in Dallas yesterday.  I have read the first half of the book while waiting at DFW for an incoming flight.

Detail Associates Speed Recorder wire diameter?

Hi, folks-

Has anyone got a Detail Associates Speed Recorder TK 2807 (the one with the wire you have to strip before installing)?

I used the insulation on bent wire to simulate the universal joint on the A-line Gunderson cars, but that was back when the kits were new. I can't quite remember the diameter. Since the DA parts are a little scarce, I am looking on Ebay for an equivalent AWG so I can do these without sacrificing the wire from the kit.

   Any help appreciated!

      Cheers!

Hi all!

My wife gave me this for Christmas :

A Sony DSC QX100 WIFI Camera!

I have tested it briefly, and it looks promising.

These pics are unedited and I only used the room lighting:
