MRC Decoder Fix

Just recently placed an MRC 1624 decoder in an F-unit and could not get the decoder to set a new address, or any thing else for that matter. It worked perfectly fine on Address 3, just wouldn't take instruction.

I tried resetting (CV 125) with no luck.

I am using an EZ DCC system and had a Soundtraxx PB 100 in the line to the programming track.

Just for the heck of it I bypassed the booster and then I was able to program the decoder.

Don't know if this may help others but I thought I would pass it along.

editing

Well Joe after all the comments about how good a job of editing you have been doing at your magazine I noticed a paragraph repeated. Begins at the bottom of the seaboard B8 B9 article on page 5 and repeats on page 6. I guess after saying all those nice things about your magazine I jinxed ya. You can tell everyone it is my fault.

Putting Sound in Bachmann Vanderbilt (Vandy) Tenders

I have a number of Bachmann Vandy tenders that I wish to put sound (and decoders) into. In particular I am looking at the VC16 and VC12 tenders at the moment.

First the VC16 tenders. I want to build at least 3 different versions for experimentation purposes:
1) Mount a Railmaster bass-reflex speaker (already enclosed in its own 'box') on the bottom frame firing out the bottom of the tender.

OK Free-mo First Group setup!!

This past weekend the OK Free-mo group had our first independent setup for the Spring show in Oklahoma City. For our first setup things went pretty well, we had trains running by the time the doors opened at 0900 on Saturday. We did not have much of a layout, but we had a really good time!

May issue status - releasing evening of May 2nd

May issue is done, but it needs about 6 hours of rollout time and final download testing ... and that would put it into late Thu or early Friday.

However, I'm the one who knows how to do this final rollout and I'm going to do something I rarely do and I'm going to take a family day on May 1 because it's my youngest grandson's first birthday. This grandson is my son's son, meaning this is the first grandson to pass on the Fugate name - so I'm going to take the day to spend with family.

Model Power calls it quits

From their website

Dear Model Power Customers,

After nearly 50 years serving the hobby industry, our 3rd generation family business will closing effective immediately.

In 2007, our banks began an aggressive deleveraging process. They no longer approved of a profitable and paying client such as ours, which had been reliant on inventory. This is why one of the industry's most extensive lines, had begun to see much of its products unavailable on the market. Now it will no longer be seen at all.

Static grass applicator

Recently I came across a static grass applicator on e-bay. This unit is manufactured and shipped direct from China. It sells for $39.98. Has anyone ordered one of these units, and if so have you been satisfied with it?

Windows8/8.1

I am guessing but I think that maybe this question was answered somewhere before on this site. I am getting a new computer and it will unfortunately have either Windows ver. 8 or ver. 8.1 loaded on it. My question is will Model Railroad Hobbyist work with it and is there anything I need to do for getting the magazine onto the new computer?

BEMO gear-drive switch motors

Can anyone help? This question came to MRH World Headquarters:

A friend from a MRR Club had a hobby shop in Germany. I picked up some small, gear driven, DC motors made by
BEMO, model # 4225 (currently 4425-000) from his estate and am attempting to use them to control the points on some N Scale Peco turnouts.
