Batch Building Stock Cars, What's on your workbench?

I thought I would post a few pictures of building stock cars in batch mode.

These are craftsman kits offered by PBL in Sn3. www.p-b-l.com

More iOS users than Android users on MRH

A recent check of the MRH website traffic stats shows 2.5 times the number of iOS device visits to Android visits.

This tracks pretty closely with recent findings that for the overall web, more are using iOS for web browsing (at least 2 times), while those with Android tend to use it more as a feature/gaming device and not as much for pure web browsing.

Painting the helix

I need to know what the general opinion is on painting the helix. I don't recall seeing one painted but some of the guys in the club think we should. What do you think or recommend? Thanks

March issue of MRH delayed one day

The MRH March issue is delayed one day. It will be released to the website on Tue, Feb 25, and the official email blast will go out that evening.

We pulled off a minor miracle with only 3 weeks between issues this time, but we'd like one more day to make really sure we find most of the errors instead of you!

Kudos!

Joe, Mike, and team! Kudos for a terrific interview. The concept and execution of the Allagash are both top rate! What we should all strive to achieve! Great job, as Pip said, "More, please, sir!" John Colley, Sonoma, CA

The price of free

Recently we've received complaints about all our "TrainMasters TV" ads. The complaint goes something like this:

"Enough with all the TrainMasters ads already! I signed up for MRH, not this TrainMasters thing. I have absolutely no interest in TrainMasters, and I'm getting very tired of all the ads, please stop."

We also get some similar complaints about our eBook ads.

Holding cars/trains on a grade

How do you guys hold cars or trains on a grade? I did check the archives and saw a couple of ideas using  wire and paint brush bristles. So what has worked for you? I have a industrail siding that will need something to hold the cars so they don't roll out to the mainline and  I have to hold a train on a grade while I do some switching. I don't want to loose that train as it will roll down the helix.  Brian

Auto transporter in February 2014 issue

FWIW my father in law was an executive at Tracy Baker and Baker Drive Away in the 1950s before he went to Baltimore in 1958/59 to handle the importation of Renault Dauphins on the Inner Harbor. He later went to the Chrysler plant in Newark, Delaware where he was VP of DelRel in charge of taking cars from the plant for storage and release to auto transporters and loading on the railroad.

My wife is probably one of the few women who has a 1950s style auto carrier as shown in the article in her toy .collection.
