N-Scale Body Mount Coupler Solution

N-scale Body Mount Coupler Solution

I like the concept of body mount couplers on N-scale rolling stock.  But I have had issues with negotiating the tighter radius curves on a small layout.  Back when I first decided to run N-scale, I designed a larger layout with an average of 22-inch radius curves.  Now that my focus of design has switched to a smaller operations based layout, my curve radius has changed to smaller radius measurements.  Some as tight as 9 inches.

Easy Model Railroad Inventory Information

I would like to encourage everyone who is using Easy Model Railroad Inventory to make sure they have, either on CD or flash drive, a copy of the installation program. Why you might ask.

Seeking IR detector selection advice

Greetings all,

I’m looking to install a grade crossing on my HO Free-Mo module and am currently comparing the available optical detection systems. For the crossing itself I think I know which controller, grade crossing signal, and bell module I want to use; however, with regard to the detection hardware that will set the whole thing in motion, I’m stuck in analysis paralysis.

Could this be called a manual 3D?

3D printing consists of layers being stack one on top of the other. This gave me an idea. The roofs of boxcabs have a very shallow curve to their roofs. It's kind of hard to get the right profile over a length of 3 inches or more. While I was working on my boxcabs for the HOn30 quarry line the roofs keep falling off. As i was looking at them I was thinking there has to be a better way. I think I found the answer in the etched kits so popular in Britain. I snagged a kit that was/is produced in Canada. The picture below shows the chassis.

I was wondering if anybody knew of any websites that had free cardstock structures and other models I like the look of them and it would be greatly appreciated

Dents and Dings

I'm sitting here fighting a cough and cold viral flu now for the 14th day. Time to start feeling better and work on a project I can manage while recuperating. This brings me to my scrap box and a couple of cars that are less trucks and/or missing other items and not deemed repairable - the perfect vehicle to practice on!
