What are the good choices for metal wheels to replace plastic with?
Alright, I'm going to upgrade some of my better rolling stock that didn't come with metal wheels to having them. So what is the current consensus (asking for that from model railroaders, I've got to be kidding) as to which are a good, solid product with a decent price for the item. I don't mind buying bulk (bulk only gets you at max 25 cars done)
I've got some older Proto2000 wheel sets. Not sure what else might be out there.
Thanks in advance.
How do you paint a car with details that you can't remove for painting?
Back in the day, I purchased a number of Thrall All Door Boxcars from Walthers. Since I'm trying to model relatively contemporary, many of those cars are no longer usable in their current form. So either I sell them (limited market for them) or do something with them. Modifying them to what some of them became is beyond my current skillset. But painting them in a still in use paint scheme might be possible. NOKL has a number of them still in service for specialized wood products. Their paint scheme is a basic brown (box car red?) solid color. Nominal data on the cars.

POLL: Which Design Should I Continue Building??
Please VOTE (and provide feedback if you have a moment longer) on these two choices for a layout design.
Which layout do you think I should continue building? LIMITATIONS due to what has been finished to date are (read, "No way am i changing it.") :
- All the bench work and base layer of 2" foam;
- Lift bridge with track
- 3' x 4' module, with 130' remote Turntable and 7-stall Roundhouse
The first layout shown is what I originally intended.

Scratch Building Material Question
Good morning,
I am laying out the next project which is going to require scratch building several mill structures at my steel plant.
I am looking to make a long cast house foundation, foundation for stoves and gas cleaning, and also the forms for the walls and roof over the cast house.
I was thinking 3/4 MDF, but am aware that MDF can have issues with moisture and possible problems related to adhesives when joining styrene siding and roofing material to the MDF itself.

Just some photos I got that I thought might be interesting to some.

Old Wood Structure Kits, (also other materials)
I was rummaging around some of my inventory of collected 'stuff' a few days ago, and came upon a few old wood kits that probably would not get many modern day modelers very excited. But they just might appeal to some older, time-period guys. It might be neat to see a few of these odd ball kits from yesteryear.
And it might be neat to find a modeler who would appreciate getting them free, rather than languishing unused in another person's 'collected stuff'? Might be fun to find a good home for some of these.

Photo Etching ladders: metal thickness experiences?
I'm researching the creation of some N&W CPL signals in HO scale. I looked at many companies and it seems that not one of them does actual N&W CPL signals nor PRR CPL signals of which the N&W ones are derivatives of, or if they do they won't have the dual mast version on a single supported post platform I'd need.
