Question about n-scale Atlas C55 Turnouts, Controls, and Ballasting
Okay folks, I have been pouring over the Internet and really haven't found all the answers to my questions regarding using Atlas N-Scale Code 55 turnouts with either a Tortoise or Walthers' Servo or any other under-the-table-with-a-throw-wire type device.
First off I apologize if there is a duplicate post somewhere but I sure haven't found it.
Loop served industries
Are modern loop served industries like coal mines or especially grain elevators where an entire train is loaded or unloaded with the cars rolling under a spot at slow speed worth modeling for their operating potential?
Back to model railroading
After a bit of a break from model railroading. I'm starting to think about renewing my interest in it. Now that I have finished playing around with a car that I bought last year and brought it up to where I'm happy with it. I can start to focus on enjoying this hobby again.
I have downgraded my space to 14x12. with room to re install a 30" helix from my last layout that I saved.
Givens.

Different days different work, thoughts on rail served customers
One thing I have noticed about some model railroad operations is that jobs are expected to switch every customer every session. I was recently going back through some old information from my Trainmaster and AGM days on a few railroads. One of the things I was placed in charge of was creating job duty and customer switching plans. My decisions were based on a number of factors, so if you are interested in how some schedules are made keep reading.
Small Short Lines
Or should I say, short short lines?
So what is the smallest short line railroad you know of?
Im talking actual railroad, has to have a reporting mark.

San Joaquin Valley Railroad in HO
I am soon to take possession of a 20’ x 20’ fully finished train room with a house attached to it, so planning a new layout has begun, and I'm interested in the community's constructive comments. The next post shows a floorplan of the space.

I would like to share some info that I just became aware of, specifically regarding servo timing.
This is not quite my "normal" blog article, but I think it affects too many of my projects, so I include it here.
