Sources for tiny motors and gearing?

Hello all,

I just got back into model railroading recently and am excited to meet some people and see what you are all up too.

I'm in the prep stages for a project where i want to try to model some early 1900 street cars in N scale.  (specifically the Seattle Municipal Railway).  I have found tons of good photo reference, so good to go there.

MP5 Advanced Model Railway Turnout / Switch Motor and Digitrax DS64 Application Notes

I spied these little MP5 Motors a while ago while searching the web for a smaller solution to the venerable Circuitron Tortoise, and finally got around to ordering them on Feb 28, 2021.  They arrived yesterday (March 12) from The Bay area to Vancouver, BC. Details below in next post.  Canada Customs only added 5% GST and a $10 handling fee.

Did you get your M420

One of the most anticipated release of a locomotive for me was the RAPIDO M420 as delivered to CN. I don’t think I ever saw a 2500 series only 3500s when the got sold of by CN and started showing up on short lines. I don’t model CN and wasn’t going to wait and see if the 3500s get released. So I bought one to run on the layout. I had built a resin kit quite a number of years ago as HBRY 3548 and it still runs well.  Maybe time to put them in a consist. Thumbs up to RAPIDO .

Impossible to connect to WiThrottle.

Hello and happy weekend!

Up to May last year I had JMRI in my laptop (with Windows 7) connected to my Digitrax DCS100 (from SuperChief) through a LocoBuffer USD. I programmed my almost 80 engines with JMRI and run them with my DT400 throttles and since early 2019 I made it WiFi with a Digitrax LNWi and Engine Driver and WiThrottle apps. Actually, I do not like much apps as I have to look at where I put my finger to control, a largely discuss problem in this forum!

Which is more portable? 4x6 vs. 2x8

Which size is more portable/transportable? A 2x8, or a 4x6?

Which size is easier to move?

I'm trying to decide what size my future layout should be.
