Railcar Truck Set Nomenclature
I have been tuning up my freight cars in accordance with the "Make it Run Like a Dream" series, and got some good information about wheels, trucks, suspension, etc. on the MRH rolling stock forum.
I also found this video clip that does a good job showing the real thing. Possibly overly long and overly simplified for many readers here but it's worth a skim.

Working Fence gate
A friend of mine has an exit to staging on his layout. We have been thinking of ways to block the line of sight.
The problem is that the way the track has to exit the layout, the light from the staging area, shines through onto the layout and distracts from the illusion he wants.
We have come up with an idea. We want to put a solid "gate" across the track on the staging side of the layout.

Question about state bans of 4-wheel 'bobber' cabooses
I'm looking for information about where and when four-wheeled "bobber" cabooses were outlawed. From what I've read Ohio and Minnesota passed laws in 1913 and 1911 respectively that took effect in 1919, similar regulation took effect in New York in 1924, and I've found a source citing similar legislation in Montana being enacted in 1907 but with no effective date listed.

Looking for info on how to model an additional Electric Furnace, if it's worth the effort?
For a steel mill that existed in the early 1950s in addition to having the switching all of the spurs for the Blast Furnaces, Coke Ovens (and affiliated by-products), Open Hearth and existing Electric Furnaces, and the Rolling/Finishing Mills, I thought it would be interesting to also have under construction a new Electric Furnace IF it provided for additional switching of cars to bring in the materials to build it and take away whatever material needed to be removed.
