Electrical Frustration
OK, I 'll bite; after being so careful and testing track conductivity as I went along, I now have a gremlin that has popped up. Track was laid and joints butted; soldered where needed; drops made; insulator joiners used on the inside rail of fturnouts etc.

I always get a warm feeling when I read of others having great support from suppliers of products, so when I get excellent service I am compelled to acknowledge this to others.
I needed to send in a dodgey Econami 100 to SoundTraxx for a look-over. I received back a brand new item just last night, no questions asked.
The round trip to the USA and back to Australia took just over 2 weeks. Pretty awesome.

Any pointers on replacing a Paragon 2 decoder?
As the title says.
I have a Broadway limited Y6b where the decoder malfunctions.
It loses connection with the DCC and has a strange short.
When measured, I got an open circuit from the tender pickups to both sides of the drive wheels simultaneously....
I was thinking of ripping it out and replace it with a Econami 200 steam decoder.
Anyone has a schematic to show where the wires from the loco plug goes?
And, is it possible to connect the smoke system to it?
Any tips are greatly appreciated!

HO scale garden Railroad
Has anyone attempted to build an HO scale garden layout? If so, please advise as to set backs with wiring, roadbed etc.
Programming a BLI 2-8-0
Greetings all,
I've already asked this question on the BLI Yahoo list several days ago and got no response.
I want to program a 'short' whistle(F3) for my 2-8-0, but don't know if the decoder even has that ability. I am using JMRI and can change the function mapping with no problem, but no luck so far on finding a short whistle.
Has anyone done this or know if it even can be done?

Tour-Induced Lighting Improvements and T8 LED Retrofits
My layout is on a self-guided tour this weekend in conjunction with my NMRA Region's convention ("Rails to the Capital" - MCR). Like most people, an event like this can lead to a flurry of work; in my case that involved rushing some mock-ups of some of the industries in Circleville, the current focus of the layout. One thing, of course, always leads to another; the mockup work, specifically some reasonably precise plan-drawing and foamboard-cutting that requires good light, made the known weak lighting spots very obvious and somewhat problematic.
