speed matching
I have heard the term used and I understand the need for speed matching; but, has anyone posted the specific procedure as to how to speed match a DCC locomotive? In other words, How do you do it ?

Switching Video series - C&W's Kraft Switcher
Well, with the recent Railway Modellers Meet of BC (2017) firmly in the rear view mirror, I thought I would post a set of 5 videos I shot to help visitors to the Columbia & Western "manage" the most challenging job on the C&W: the Kraft Switcher.

Layout design - N Scale V5 - And I think I'm there!
Ok, I have just shuffled the industries about so they make more sense, it looked odd with the port up on Module A with the Rockies in the background, so the Port is down below and the Coal mine is where it should be. The open space on the right of the coal unloader at the port will be a container yard/Inter modal area.
I'm happy with the Industry and scenic spread, so off to the printer and out to the Track room to lay the plans out on the modules, I will build Modules A,B,C first closely followed by D. the rest will come in time and as Finances permit.
Make it run like a Dream: Trackwork: VIDEO!
Joe Fugate returns to The Backshop Clinic to talk about his new book, Make it Run Like a Dream - Trackwork. In this segment he focuses on standards for curvature and turnouts as two considerations for getting more reliable operation out of your layout.

Layout design - N Scale V4
I know I said final on the last one but I doubt it will be final till track is laid, if ever :)
V4 - A few variations and I'm not sure if I will use this or not but it places a Port at Module A and a Refinery and coal unloader and maybe a small container terminal, the town is a lot simpler, I could also add streets and shops and its a lot more scenic on the RHS of the layout with just the grain silo surrounded by farms, coal mine and engine facility have moved to the lower deck. I will post that up tomorrow.
Thoughts? preferences?
Which Walthers Kit(s) are these sprues from?
Wondering if anyone can identify these that I got as part of a bunch of misc. parts. There are some ladders, maybe piping, bulk commodity elevatory or something. Thanks.
Next Layout Project
As my current layout nears completion, I'm thinking of my next project. Tne Northern Pacific Project (NPP) has been my first serious attempt at a scale model railroad and I've really enjoyed it. There have been the usual miscues and false starts, but the accumulated knowledge in magazines and online has been tremendously helpful. Coming up on three years active in the hobby and building the layout, I've found that I prefer prototype modeling and on the hobby side operations and scratch-building are what I look forward to.
Cheap paint option for painting foam board base?
I am getting ready to paint the surface of my foam board (2" Foamular) and came across this paint on Walmart's website. It is labeled as interior latex so that should be a cheap option to coat the board right before scenery?

Alco 2-6-0 (Bachmann Sound Value)
I was just impressed today, and I wanted to share it here, because, honestly, ONLY model railroaders will get this (heaven knows the flat mate doesn't)
So, I have three Bachmann Alco 2-6-0s with Sound Value. Two are from the "Echo Valley Express" set (one I got the set, the second was a birthday gift... both basic, and plastic) and the third is the metal one that you buy by itself. All three sound value, and all three look IDENTICAL! (similar weights even)
