Attack of the NW2s

A side by side comparison of similar locomotives with dissimilar decoders.

The same operation is performed. The results are quite different.

Ballasting - what fun!

Besides building my structure I've been ballasting track on my layout - a little at a time.  Why a little at a time?

AK Interactive Weathering Pack - Locomotives and Wagons

This week’s video is looking at a pack of three products from AK Interactive.  Are they worth it and how would you use them to weather?

Kathy

Just curious

There's been quite a bit of chatter in regards to Bachmann locomotives recently. I'm just curious mind you. Are they still being made with rubber traction tires, or have they finally discontinued that practice? For the prices they are asking for I would hope that the rtt's are a thing of the past. While I do have a few of the older ones, they WILL be junked, gutted, scrapped, mangled, wrecked and terrorized into something, other than a running locomotive. Since 1988 all my locomotive purchases have had metal wheels.

tcs speakers

can the tcs speakers be used with  soundtraxx tsunami decoders?

Misuing a video game for Layout Planning....

So being an AVID Vlogger for the Carquinez Club, I was looking for some new ideas for content instead of members trains, runby's at open houses and ops sessions. I came across another Vlogger who using Trainz and Trainz Model Railroad Video Games virtually modeled a local CSX sub (Pennsylvania & Berwyn) and a layout from an old Model Railroader Magazine (Needles Sub). Soooooo... Why Not the Carquinez Model Railroad Society club layout?

A quick inventory of my structures

Hi all!
I made a little inventory of my model buildings in HO...
They've really starting to add up (this isn't even all of them, maybe 2/3's).
The layout construction is imminent, so a good stash of ready built structures isn't a bad thing to have.
Roughly half of them are totally finished, and a quarter of them has lighting added.

PR3XTRA JMRI question

This is probably a dumb question, but,,, here goes. I'm planning to buy the Digitrax PR3XTRA programmer, and a few Digitrax sound decoders... now, I don't have a layout yet, and I still don't know what DCC system I'll be using (right now, I just lay EZ Track, and use the EZ Commander when I want to run my trains) so this isn't about how to run a DCC layout, but rather, this is a question about the capabilities of the Digitrax PR3XTRA.
