Michigan Southern in V-Scale
I've been hammering away at a representation of the Michigan Southern in Trainz:A New Era for about a year. Here, the MSO 907, a GP9 I commissioned from Jointed Rail, runs westbound from Sturgis to White Pigeon, crossing Klinger Lake Road.

Prototype info on Accurail car
We're looking to see if anyone has assembled prototype info on Accurail's 36' double-sheathed wood box car?
What can you tell us?

Research costs you more money...
Whilst we are still in the midst of school holidays there hasn't been any time down in the layout to continue on with either the signal install and/or anything else on the layout.
Can we be "too realistic"?
Based on what's currently being discussed in the thread started by jamessix (http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/32110) I'd like to throw something out for consideration.

Rapido RailCrew switch machine mounting experiences
I was finally able to pick up a pair of the new Rapido RailCrew switch machines from my LHS for testing and noticed an issue that is mentioned in their demonstration video but does not appear in the instructions.

What is YOUR particular brand of enjoyment in Model Railroading ?
Here on the forums of late we have experienced the doom and gloom portent of model railroading future, the failure of the 4' X 8' layouts but also things like the realism thread and the Depression Era thread.
These topics got me to thinking: What is YOUR particular passion, YOUR points of interests that became focal points for the enjoyment of the Model Railroading Hobby ? What is the motivating factor(s) that keep you plugging away.

Peco Insulfrog/Electrofrog wiring video
I stumbled across this video while researching another subject and thought folks who like Peco products might find it useful.
Passenger train layout - How to proceed?
Hi all,
I've decided that my first train purchase will be the KATO EMD E5A "Silver Bullet". I really seem to gravitate towards the passenger trains.
My first modeling surface will be about 3' by 6'.
This will be an N-scale layout.
Now for the tough part. The layout. I have no idea about things like curve radius and the like. I gather that the longer cars, the bigger that track curve radius plays a part.
What color is used inside engine cabs?
Happy New Year fellow model railroaders!
Looking at old phots is seems that Santa Fe, and maybe other railroads, used a green color inside their engine cabs.
Can anyone tell me what paint, or mix of paint, I could use on my models?
Preferable Vallejo paints.
As a side note, does anyone know why the green color is so often used inside the engine cabs?

Excel Car Cards and Waybills
There's a number of different model rr software products out there to create car cards and waybills for your model railroad, or pre-printed forms like the ones you can get from Micro-Mark that you fill in by hand.
But they're fairly easy to make yourself with almost any spreadsheet software. I used Microsoft Excel since I happened to have it, but any other spreadsheet software will have the same or similar features.
I wrote up more details on how I print my own car cards and waybills on my personal blog. Read more here:
