Popped the cork to mark the start of the New Year. Only one resolution -- no more threads on death of the hobby.

Moving the hobby forward with new techniques

In this thread: The REAL reason this hobby is aging out, Doug Meyer tries to take us all to task for being against new and better ways of modeling. In fact, his latest conclusion is:

I just think I will keep it to myself and I will look elsewhere for new methods and open discussions ...

Doug can do what he likes, but I'm going to try and be part of the solution instead of just complaining (if we even have a problem).

DIY grassmaster

Hi all, I borrowed a Noch grassmaster but I think it's a bit hefty price wise.
I then saw the article by Luke Towan on how to build your own.
I didn't like to have to scurry around to find the hardware though ...
The electronics were all readily available, and I ordered all of it online.
A friend and I decided to build one each.
The housing then?
I would like the ability to alter it and change the cups and nozzles to suit various types of applications.

buildng "CRITTER" engines and rolling stock

I am very interested in building whimsical "critter" engines and rolling stock on a small layout, preferably HO gage.
The problem is, I cannot find where to purchase the small motor drive on a just two axle truck assembly on which to build. I would very much  appreciate any help and advice.
Happy new year to all.

Have you HEARD the good news?

I think I just accidentally became an MRH preacher... proselytizing the good news of Model Railroad Hobbyist...

I just asked the question, in a Facebook HO train forum, "Now I'm curious... how many here subscribe to Model Railroad Hobbyist magazine?"

The thread has blown up, and quite a few folks say they never heard of it, and just subscribed today!
