3D pens
I was wondering if anyone has tried using one of the new 3D pens that are hitting the market. My thoughts have been towards using one to make some interesting trees for starters. The plastic filament seems to be fairly sturdy and the pen allows you to go vertical with strands of plastic fairly easily. I will give it a try and post some photos
FRP Adhesive: any alternative use for scenary??
I hate to throw stuff away :). I used fiber reinforced plastic board (FRP) for backdrops and its specialized adhesive goop. I have at least 3.5 gallons of the relatively expensive stuff left over (it wasn't available in smaller lots). I hate to throw it out for landfill. Has anyone ever used it to form scenery? I can imagine it easily spreading over foam or cloth scenic material to form a hard shell. It's non-toxic and has almost no odor. It dries quite fast in the thin coats used to apply FRP sheets.
Continued saga on natural product use
I've been reasonably pleased with the outcomes of using natural products, like weeds, to model trees and bushes on my layout. Since the primary portion of the layout is only about 8" deep some scenes have not had the depth that I felt I wanted to capture the deep woods feel so common in Ohio. This pic shows that lack of depth:

Perhaps a reason young people don't come to events?
I encountered a person wanting to get into the hobby who’s in his 20s the other day and he looked at photos of my layout. I invited him to come by to look if he wanted. He asked about other layouts in the general area, but was specific about the owners being somewhere in my age range (I’m in my late 40s) or younger. I asked why, and he stated he’d tried to join two clubs (he wouldn’t say which ones as he admitted he didn’t want to offend me if I knew the people he was talking about) but changed his mind after being around the members.
RailPro Troubleshooting
Hello everyone! I am attempting to set up a RailPro LM-3S in a steam locomotive, but I’m facing some major difficulties. If any of the RailPro experts out there could help me, that would be great.

Creality 3D® CR-10S 3D Printer Kit (Updated the title)
I would like feedback on this (Monoprice Maker Select Ultimate 3D Printer)
if anybody has one or knows about it.
Eyesight, dexterity, and kit building.
I have a mind to undertake something over the holidays that I haven’t done in quite a while to due having to move a few times and the lure of buying RTR rolling stock not to mention building layouts and dioramas… going to actually put together a kit.
The last time I put a rolling stock kit together was with the aid of readers, nowadays a magnifier is required. It will be interesting to see how my current dexterity is.
NCE Cab issues
Just encountered an issue after years of reliable service. I plugged in my NCE Powercab and it cycles on then off over and over again. The red light on the panel blinks on when the CAB powers on but goes off again. I can't find a short, but I can't figure out what else it could be.
Thanks and Merry Christmas

LED lights for switch direction
I am modeling N scale. I have installed atlas switches with factory mounted switch machines. I want to be able to light a block signal as well as red and green indicators on my control panel to indicate the route of the turnout. I can't afford to replace all the switch machines with expensive "TORTOISE TYPE" switch machine or the Atlas equivalent to mount under the layout. Does anyone have a solution to my dilema?
Working Lift-Span Bridge
This is my first blog and I am hoping it will work like a Work in Progress (WIP) type journal.
First of all this WIP has nothing to do (directly) with railway or trains . But it could be. That is, the working lift-span bridge could be easily used in a model railway layout. The scale is 1/72 which is not a model railway scale-gauge at all, but the 1/76 is close enough (OO scale).
