Lighting comparison on the Richlawn Railroad - UPDATED: Worklight added

I was curious on how the different lighting looks in photos of my railroad.  It was originally illuminated by track lights only with halogen bulbs but they were too hot.  I installed the Michael Rose LED light board and then later switched out my halogen bulbs in my track lights with LED floodlights that are 525 lumens / 5,000 K each.

NCE Switch 8 Mark II -- Two switch machines with one address???

I am preparing to install my first two Tortoise switch machines, controlled by the NCE Switch 8 Mark II.  This particular pair of switch machines will throw a pair of turnouts whose diverging routes connect, such that either both should always be aligned straight or both should be aligned diverging.

Praise to Scaletrains.com!

I ordered my first scaletrains.com engine and really can't find anything wrong with it or the customer service when figuring out shipping... It was the UP SD40-2 in the operator scheme and the paint to me looked amazing and even with a nice tone getting that yellowish orange hue. I have yet to run it it but from what I hear they run great so kudos to them I recommend getting any of their products (and this is 100% honest and unsolicited)

Using a Spreadsheet to Simulate Customer Demand

make your own laser-etched brick

Recently Douglas Meyer posted a detailed analysis of modelled brickwork. He pointed out that the size of bricks, the depth of "mortar" grooves and the finishing methods in common practice are highly variable. Some methods yield relatively realistic results, others less so.
