How do you plan sidings and spurs along a grade?
Let's assume a layout being made for operating, with a long section of track on a continouous grade of 2% (an incline, nolix...doesn't matter).
How does one deal with sidings and spurs that need to be placed along that grade that serve various industries when the track is continuously climbing up? What if there's a need for a small yard, or an interchange?
Does one level the grade, add the additional trackwork to accomodate industries on a flat portion, then continue the grade?; or
Mid-Century Modern for the Transition Era
Mid-century modern architecture is rarely seen on transition-era layouts representing Western US railroads, even though it was widespread in places like Los Angeles, northern California, Arizona and New Mexico. Few kit structures are available, and almost none for industries. On my workbench this month is a kitbash of one of the few kits in mass production, Walthers' "Modern Brick Santa Fe Station," based on a Hutchinson, Kansas prototype; it's becoming a California aircraft parts factory.
Digitrax SDXH186 Decoder
Anyone have experience with this decoder the 8 bit or X 16 bit?
I'd like to hear your pros and cons debating between ESU Loksound already comes with the correct sounds loaded or this cheaper decoder which i will have to get the correct sounds files on it for a GE U25B.

Santa Fe Central Valley Division 1978
Recently I saw a video on Youtube about the Santa Fe Central Valley Division in 1978. Can someone point me in the right direction where i would be able to find information on railroading in this area during that era and the present day?
Southeastern New England Layout tour
On April 14th the Southeastern New England Layout tour is the same day as the NMRA HUB division SpringTraining.16 layouts are open this year. See website for more information.
I need help with placement of a reversing circuit, please.
Trying to find the "Reverse Loop Guru" to help me with the placement of a reverse loop circuit into a track plan. I can send a schematic of the problem if you are confident in reverse loop puzzles in DCC. Thanks.

1 x 3 L-girders for legs?
I was able to score a number of "premium" 2 x 4s from a person's remodel project that went sour. I have about 30 2x4 x 7 and maybe 15 that are 3 to 4 feet long. I have to pull nails from them and because some were toe-nailed together the ends on some are chewed up. But they were up for a while and should be dry. They are generally knot-free and straight.
I also have a table saw and can rip the 2 x 4s into 1 x 4s (finished dimensions would be 3/4" by 3 1/2").
Sugar Cane Train in Florida
Sugar cane is big business in Florida and US Sugar has a railroad to move the cane to mills. Danny Harmon shot a video of some of the operation entitled "Sugar Cane Train Chase Winter 2018".
Here is his caption and a link to the video:
