BLI SW7 programming issues

Hello all,

I have an MEC BLI SW7 that I picked up some years ago. It's a Paragon 2 DCC/Sound unit, and it is probably 5 years old now - I finally have a working layout to play with. I mostly run a Digitrax Zeyphr Xtra (DCS-51), with a PR4 USB connection unit, but I also have a Sprog II. Both the Sprog II and the PR4 work perfectly with JMRI (current version, 4.12) with all of my other DCC and SCC/Sound units. I have an Atlas HH600, Atlas GP-40 and Bachmann S-4 with sound, and a variety of no-sound DCC units.

Brass Scratchbuilding Supplies

Guys, help me out here if you can!

I'm looking for some pre-cut brass - smaller than typical from K&S or other suppliers.

I need some strips that are 0.020" thick and 0.050" wide - by almost any length.

I can't cut these myself from existing 0.020" stock.  Or at least I lack the technique to do it accurately.

I want to scratchbuild some ladders in brass as replacements on some older tenders and other brass rolling stock.

Some Operational Lessons from My First Layout

Having completed my first layout to as much as I intend to, I've been having a bit of a play. The track plan consists of a pair of 5-3-3 Inglenook yards:

Linked by a short runaround loop, which  due to space constraints can only take three wagons:

Westwood passenger car kits

Does anyone know the history of Westwood passenger car kits?  I recently purchased one on E-bay and a date of 1969 is hand written on the instruction sheet.  I thought the kits came out in the 1970's.  Also does anyone have tips on assembling these kits?  I'm thinking scribed styrene could be used to replace the scribed wood that comes in the kit.  I have assembled their kit for a CP shorty business car over 30 years ago and it was a challenge to build with both plastic and wooden parts and no truly good adhesive at the time.

Layout tour of the beautiful WNJ-layout

Hi! The WNJ-layout has been a big source of inspiration for me all since I was a child back in the 70s. I have now (finally) been able to visit the layout first hand and make a video documentary. Enjoy!

This layout is only open for the public a few hours during one day per year. No photos or film has been allowed until quite recently.
