Block Detection in an DCC environment
For starters, what I know about block detection could be printed in foot tall letters on the edge of a razor blade.
Getting that out of the way I have been trying to follow Joe's advice and plan for block detection/signals in my wiring and operations (CTC) plan.
Last year purchased a Digikeijs DR5000 " Mid " set that has control unit, wireless throttle, 5 amp booster and 32 channel ( 2 x 16 channel units ) occupancy detection. I had hoped I was sorta "future-proofing" my power/wiring selection.

Benchwork Tips
Got my plan for the new layout iin our new home done by a professional. Waiting on final plan with minor changes to trackwork coming next week and plan on starting construction by the end of the month.
My plan is for simple benchwork using 2" blue foam as the base for the railroad. Tips for working with this? Most switches are ground throws, but several more that are 20 inches away would be Tortise; tips on installation? Opinions on foam wire cutters? Make my own? Buy?

BQ23-7 by Bachman
So in my never ending quest to own as many Locomotives as possible with the L&N , SCL, Family Lines logo.
i came across this in an antique store for sale along with two other L&N Locos, ..
from what i have discovered these were a rare site only 10 were ever built and were all for the Sea Board RR.
So i have one Bachman BQ23-7 Locomotive in its original box, is this something i should hang onto, or rebuild it with a better motor and frame? and put it on my layout?

End of 2019 Layout Roundup
Happy New Year. Another year has come and gon so here is a summary of som of the work I have completed this past year.
Starting with the trestle and surrounding scenery is where I left of end of 2018.

Sources for mechanical parts (O scale)
I've recently decided to start building in 2 rail O scale (selling off almost everything in other scales to make room and get some cash to start with). I don't necessarily want to do Proto 48, but once I get more experience I might move into that. That being said, I know two things about O scale:
1) There are few RTR locomotives.
2) 1:48 offers a blank canvas from which to build in.

Plan for Intermodal Yard -Trenton Subdivision in N Scale
After a few days of "trial and error" I have decided on a final design for the Intermodal Yard on my layout, The Trenton Subdivision in N scale.
I decided to keep to the basics to create a modest intermodal area capable of both container and trailer operations without taking over the entire layout. I used AnyRail 6 to design the schematic.

NCE PowerPro/ProCab troubleshooting
My PowerPro 5Amp system seems to have stopped working. Specifically I have the 5Amp system with the radio controlled ProCab. Everything was fine until mid-afternoon today. I have summarized the issue and provided all the troubleshooting I did and sent the write-up to NCE, but figured I would post it here too in case anyone has suggestions.
As I said, everything as fine, and then not. The main symptoms are:
1) Left side LED ;labelled Status flashes red rapidly.
Some notes on the Cricut Maker cutting machine
Approximately a year ago I managed to obtain a Circut Maker crafting machine at a really good price. I made several posts about it over in the "Modeling with the Circut Explore" facebook group. I have decided to repost those here at MRH since that is a closed group and more modelers will have access to the information on the MRH site.

Air brush issue
Hi everyone,
I broke out my bottom feed air brush the other day, have not used it in about a year. My issue is the gun is not drawing the plaint from the bottle. Would this be a needle position problem or a blockage issue? I did give it a good cleaning today.
Best, Scott
