Do you have a wrecking crane on your railroad? If so, please post a photo and info about how you modeled or weathered it.
Right scale for switching
Since we have so much time off I have fallen into the world of over thinking/planning.
I want to build a intricate industrial park based layout. I had been set on HO for the longest time but have been considering the switch to N to allow more use of my availible space. the big concern I have is with N scale DCC at slow speeds? I only have a few HO locomotives right now, a couple WP Geeps and they run like a dream. I am worried about giving up that dependability.
Birds
BIRDS. want to populate my scenery with hundreds of birds. Pigeons, gulls, crows. Need cheap way to make them in bulk.
Compact Work Stations / tray modelling / and Temporary set ups.
Thought i would start a discussion on compact work stations.
As we all begin to spend more time inside im faced with the fact that my office / modiling station is now being used for my partners study as classes and lectures have moved online and my other possible work site is now my work station as i hav transition to working from home.
This leaves me with the lack of a worksite / workbench.
Im thinking this weekend will be making a Tv work station / tray like an onld Tea tray to continue some form of modeling through the coming weeks.
Independant protoypical signal system, for ALL scales.
Hello, rail fans!!
Decoder Inquiry - SoundTraxx vs. ESU
Hi – New here but have been an "unregistered" reader for a while. I tried to find a search function before posting but I didn’t see one specifically for the forums.
Want to know people’s experience and or recommendations with mobile decoders for locomotives. (I’ve always had someone take care of my electronics since its never really been my thing. I’ve decided to take this on myself when they told me they won’t work with LEDs.)

Keep Alive = Speed Matching Troubles?
I’ve run into a mindboggling issue with Speed Matching and I’m wondering if keep-alive circuits could be at fault. The problem is simply that a few of my speed-matched locos need a warm-up period before they reach their fastest speed at any speed step. Until then they run as much as 10% slower.
Lubrication
May I open a new thread? What is or are the best lubricants to use? It makes sense that these are all plastic compatible (pc). I don't see the sense in keeping oils for metal only and separate for plastic. First, the wheels. I suspect some simple light oil. Second, open gears - a slightly heavier, or ? Third, motor brushes or such - where you can reach them. And any other places y'all have had success with.
