Another Anon & Muss Layout Plan

Another Anon & Muss Layout Plan

I was recently handed a Dec 2019 issue of Model Railroader, and as I thumbed thru it quickly I was struck by this Greenville & Ohio plan built in a 13' 6” x 23' foot room. It reminded me SO MUCH of one of the layout plans I first fell in lust for, the Anon & Muss. Had my layout space been slightly wider I might well have built this plan, but of course it still suffers from those limited radius loops at the entrance end.

Cutting Tubes to Create 90s and 45s

Hope all are safe and well!

Working on a heavily kitbashed project right now and I have come to a point in the project where I need to start cutting and gluing Evergreen 3/8 tube to create 90 and 45 degree bends.

This is industrial pipe, on a steel mill so these will not be smooth bends rather bends made up of 22.5 angle cuts and so on for various angles.

Anybody have a trick in there kitbasher arsenal?

Thanks,

Bob

"Critter" builders, rejoice!

Spotted on Thingiverse, a compact 2-axle "drive bogie" you can 3-D print, with a shopping list of parts to power it.

Adjust the axle spacing in your favorite app, away you go.

Digitrax UP5 Mounting

Folks,

I want to "surface mount" a couple of Digitrax UP-5's.  They are designed for flush mounting, by cutting a hole in your fascia and using the 4 corner screw holes to affix it.

But in my case, I don't want to cut a hole in my fascia, which is 1/8 thick flush mounted against my longitudinal benchwork joists (1x4 pine).  So I want to somehow find a box or something that I could mount the UP-5 to (I'd have to use a piece of styrene or something as a cover plate, probably), and then surface mount the box to the fascia.

DCC CV spreadsheet

Double headed locomotives require speed matching to run well together, especially true for switching.  I used page 50 in the NCE PowerCab manual rev.1.65 .   Control Variables ( CV''s ) should be changed in programming mode so that the initial setting of a CV ( Cryptic Vexation?

Electrically stumped

I have been trying to build a static grass applicator but I am having issues with the wiring. I have seen so many you tube videos and been Googled out of my mind. Where do the wires go for the 3 prong switch and the ion generator.
here is a picture taken of the box the parts will be mounted in. Please help, I am not inept just totally confused right now.

i do have 10 volts coming into the box and I do have a multimeter.

Thanks

Layout Track Plan, Brunswick. GA

Here's a screen capture of the final layout design. It's not to scale, but allowed me to test it virtually as I went along. After laying down the Kato track I tested it for several hours to make sure it did what I wanted.

It is loosely based on Brunswick, GA, where I now live after retiring. The area at the top is the old Hercules plant. I've already scratch built several buildings. I'll post some pics later.

Athearn Ready to Roll Truck Removal Inquiry

Hi – Wondering if anyone has experience removing a powered truck from an Athearn Ready to Roll SD40-2?  I bought three of these many years ago (brand new) and are finally getting around to working on them.  When I went to remove the side-frames, two locos came off easily while the third unit seemed to have some sort of manufacturing defect.  The tops of the side-frames were sanded down and when I tried to pull them off (gently of course) the mounting pins broke very quickly and easily.  It looks like they glued the side-frames to the truck itself.  I need to d

Sheet cork for roadbed

On my past layout, i was given a roll of sheet cork for free.  So I used that cork for my roadbed.  I created a couple jigs so I could cut out the appropriate width for roadbed, and in yard/industrial areas I used that cork on top of a plywood base.
