Here's a screen capture of the final layout design. It's not to scale, but allowed me to test it virtually as I went along. After laying down the Kato track I tested it for several hours to make sure it did what I wanted.

It is loosely based on Brunswick, GA, where I now live after retiring. The area at the top is the old Hercules plant. I've already scratch built several buildings. I'll post some pics later.

Was it difficult to teach it ? Well, just having a laugh ! And that's also nice these times....thanks for growing a smile.

Anyway, looks good... and most important is: It is your Model Railroad and you should be pleased with it.

Success & greetings,

Filip

I like it.

I just did a quick google search on the facility in Brunswick. That looks like a sprawling facility with a lot of rail operation. Look forward to seeing your progress. What era are you going to set your model in?

Hercules Plant

I wish I could do it justice but even in N scale, the complex would be the size of my, house. But I've compressed  it down to try to catch the essence of what it looked like.

I'm aiming for the late 60's - 70's, but have to work from the following earlier photo and some shots I got when I moved here. It was sold to Pinova a few years back and they completely stripped the siding of most of the buildings.

One photo is historic, other  photo is what I have right now, scratch built, lighting installed, but not hooked up. That's on the list.

Brunswick Ga

Wasn’t there, or is there still a crossing of Southern and ACL on the west side of town? If I remember, it has a swinging gate. This would be a nice add.

Might be. I haven't been out

Might be. I haven't been out that way in quite a while.

I was looking at a site that has a variety of historic maps, atlases,  etc from the 40's to now and was amazed at how extensive trackage used to be in this area.

The service to the Hercules is almost all gone.
