Power Station / Substation Questions
I have a couple of questions regarding modeling an HO power station.
- I have a Walthers Northern Light & Power Building. I would like to have this connect to power lines and then to a substation. I can’t find any info on how the power lines connect to the building. Do they connect to the roof, the side of the building, or come out of the ground next to the building?
I-35/80 & Hwy 141
Finished up the I-35/80 and Hwy 141 overpasses on my IAIS Grimes Line layout this afternoon.
Each overpass used modified Rix Products piers and railings. The road deck is .060 styrene. The highway sign is a Summit Custom Cuts kit.

Wiring a 3 Way Wye in DCC
I would like to install a 3 way wye on my layout, but how to wire it has got me stumped. I am using a Walthers/Shinohara insulated frog wye 948-8808 and I plan to use a PSx-AR auto reversing module. I have read Joe Fugate's piece on wiring a wye in the July 2011 MRH on page 18. Joe's piece makes it clear how to wire a 2 branch wye, but I'm having difficulty figuring how to wire the 3 branch wye. As Joe has recommended, I will connect the leads from the reversing module to the stub end of the wye, and I assume that all three of the branches must be isol

Switch Machine Set Up for NCE-DCC Layout
Part I is about setting up and programing decoder to run switch machine on a NCE-DCC system. Use of terminal strip applies to all layouts DC- or DCC. Part II will deal with the physical part of the installation.

Crossing at Grade
I am getting to the point in my layout out where two industrial spurs are to cross the mainline (such as it is) at grade. The main is curved (26" radius) and each spur crosses at a different angle, neither of which (as far as I can tell) is available in a commercially made crossing.
I'm wondering...
How difficult would it be to hand lay these crossings?
and
How are they set up electrically so that there are no shorts?
Thanks in advance for any and all info and suggestions

Central Valley Turnout
Hi All
The turnout kits by central valley: what do I get? Do I need to buy additional rail and do I need to make and solder my own frogs and points? This is not clear to me. If so, how difficult is it to work with them. Is there on the web some sort of how to?

Intermountain Coupler Boxes
Coupler and Draft Gear Ramblings:
If this has been addressed somewhere else, my apologies, but why in the world does Intermountain glue the lids on their coupler boxes? I don't have many problems popping them off and for the most part I can drill through and use a screw to reattach, but it can be tedious. I think even Kadee does this, but usually no reason to replace their own couplers obviously.

Portable Hobby Bench
Hi Everybody,
I have a wonderful hobby bench in the basement of my house, but every now and then I'd like to work on my models in our upstairs family room and spend some time with my family. :)
Does anybody have a portable hobby bench that can be used while sitting in an armchair or couch? I'm thinking of something like a TV tray, but fancier with spots to hold jars of paint, knives, tools etc.
If you have any photos, please post them, I'd love to see what's out there to buy or make myself.
Thanks, Stan
