Its been about a month since my last post so I thought it was time for an update, the coal mine and west end of the yard is essentially finished it just needs some more details added.

I will add new photos as the scenery progresses.
Building a Rock Face
Since my last scenery update several people commented on my rock face and how I did it so I will do my best to explain how it was done,
Fist a couple of photos of the rock face in question.
Scenery update on the WP&GNMRR
Its been a while since I posted anything about my layout (The Western Pacific & Great Northern Model Railroad) so I thought it was time for an update. We have just had our house repaired from earthquake damage that we sustained from all the earthquakes that we have had here in Christchurch, New Zealand. After moving back into our (almost) new home it took me a few weeks to sort out the garage (train room) so that I could get back into it and carry on with the layout.
Making the best of a bad situation... Rebuilding an earthquake damaged layout.
You are all probably aware that we have had six major earthquakes in Christchurch, New Zealand in the last 18 months (not to mention the 10,000 aftershocks) which have changed our city and our lives forever.
The last one was on the 23 December 2011 and while not as big or violent as the Feb 22 quake it came from a different direction and managed to shunt everything a couple of inches to the west including everything in the cupboards, on shelves and the pathways, driveway and house !
