CAL COAT 127 PART II
This is the finish of the Cal Coat 127 project.

Building a Rock Face
Since my last scenery update several people commented on my rock face and how I did it so I will do my best to explain how it was done,
Fist a couple of photos of the rock face in question.

my conifer tree ho
This is my thirt conifer tree , more i do , more is easy to make a forest!
People, what do you think ?.
am going on good direction?

Did Athearn make solid gold models?
I realize this has some emotional attachment, but I think someone is overestimating the value just a little.

Figure 8 helix?
Okay, perhaps this is a terrible idea, but I thought I'd throw it out there...

The most frustrating part of installing a turnout....
I bought a Tam Valley Servo awhile back, as well as the Moloco mount for it, and finally got my act together tonight to try and install it. I've had the controller part mounted for quite awhile.
It's obviously been a long time since I've done something like this (retrofit an installed turnout for remote operation), since I'd forgotten that trying to feed the throw wire from below through the hole in the turnout is probably the most aggravating thing in model railroad construction.
Smallest radius helix
What is the smallest practical radius for a helix in N scale? My plans for my layout include one, but I only have room for a small radius.
Thanks,
Paul

Athearn power pick up problem.
Ok guys, I have an issue with power pick up on an Athearn CF-7 with the newer hex drive, I plugged in an NCE D13SRJ decoder an off I went running well! Now as time goes on on, power pick up on this engine is so intermittent that I can't use it. I have cleaned all the wheels "several" times, soldered all my connections INCLUDING a pickup wire directly to the truck side frame (both front and back) eliminating the power route through the frame kingpins.
Garden Railway refurb'. It's summer in Queensland. ROADBED?
Well, it's lovely weather outside and I've decided to start on a major refurb' on my garden railway, the "Humpybong and District Rly".
It doesn't snow in Brisbane but it does cop a heavy downpour or two.
What has everyone used for the subroadbed and roadbed of their layouts "out there" ?
Scratchbuilt produce warehouse, for a change . . .
After 14 buildings for a paper mill, I decided to take a vacation from heavy industry for a while - and turn to agriculture (for the moment, at least). It came to my attention that my future Seattle & North Coast might benefit from some refrigerator car traffic, so a produce distributor seemed in order. (The real Pacific Fruit and Produce disappeared from S&NC territory a long time ago - but then, S&NC territory also disappeared a long time ago)!
