Genesis HO SD75i Derails

I recently purchased and weathered a Genesis HO SD75i engine. I didn't even test it, the first thing I did was to install a Digitrax decoder. I tested it then but only on a straight test track and whenthat was done it went back on the workbench for weathering. When it was finished it went directly onto my layout.

I guess I should have tested it sooner, it derails on every corner. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Athearn tells me the truck or trucks are warped and all it will take to correct the problem is to twist it with my hands.

Cork or easy track?

My grandson is fascinated with trains.  I want to build a layout for him in our guest room.  It will be 8" x 4' area.  I have been gathering information and parts, materials rolling stock etc.  I have a mixed bag of easy track and reg track with no roadbed attached.  I want this to be a permanent installation and need to decide which track to concentrate on getting.  All of the track has been accumulated by winning actions on other things on ebay.

Just when you thought it was safe to buy the CFL's....

Here comes someone who's managed to make electroluminescent lights into something that might actually be useful for illumination:

Free-moN: At Home and On The Road

As it seems my Free-moN modules have now become my "home layout", thought I'd start a new thread featuring the whole kit-n-keboodle rather than individual modules.

'Twas a busy weekend: on Saturday I set up all my modules in my garage to 1) troubleshoot, 2) see it if fit in my garage (a "California Basement") and 3) run trains!
Only took about a kabillion hours to get everything going, but once it did...!

Hard Wiring Cab Bus

I hope this does not sound too ridiculous.

Lately I've been having some issues with my cab buss and some loose connections at the RJ connectors.  The terminals on the board themselves seem to be a little sloppy and causing the cab buss to fail, i.e. throttle no workie.

I've seen it done on the club layout where the cab buss has been hard wired to the UTP panel board.  I've been meaning to ask the membership how this is done (where to solder the wires) however, I thought I throw this out here too.

"Shark" on the JDS&E

I was rail fanning the JDS&E yesterday and caught this PRR shark at the tower. (click on the image to enlarge it)

While I was there I took a picture of the crossing tower as well.
