Wierd but true!

I have read about unusual layouts before. I have a normal layout I think. However, I have an unusual story about what I did. In the late 70's or early 80's I set up a very small loop of N scale snap track on a work counter and ran a short train for a day. Not too unusual except that I was serving in the U S Navy. The kicker is that I was on a nuclear submarine the USS Baton Rouge SSN 689. We were on a very deep dive at the time. I would clarify that I couldn't put the cars or locomotive on the track until we had leveled to a zero bubble. This was in Sonar where I stood watch.

Kadee Uncoupling Magnets

Uncoupling cars using Kadee Uncoupling magnets. This will save a ton of ware and tear on your rolling stock.  If you run op sessions or just move cars around to yards and industries these magnests can make it hands free.

HOn3 newbie

Hello all.
I haven't set up a train in the last 40 plus years, but I've never lost my fascination with them.
I'm disabled now and need a hobby (Can you guess what I chose?).
Looking into things I see a LOT has changed since my old Lionel figure 8 set.
I have been reading thru a lot of sites and learning what I can, but obviously there is no substitute for hands-on, face-to-face, skill building.
With that said, I (THINK) I want to go with HOn3.

Directional lighting using LED's and DC- is it possible?

I am planning the details around my future layout in HO, and will be using DC instead of DCC (due to limited finances and the fact I have a new-in-the-box MRC 20 Control Master walkaround throttle) and my question is: can LED's be used to make directional headlights/ditchlights? Is there a circuit done already out in the Internet that I can use or adapt? What about flashing beacons using LED's?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

Atlas O dimension question

Quick question, folks..

How thick are the walls of the Atlas O scale 40' box car?  Alternately, how wide is the gap between the sides?  I'm designing a piece to fit between the sides and convert the box car into a caboose, and I need to know the inside dimension so that the piece will fit properly.

Micro connectors

I am looking for a source of micro connectors pins that will allow me to make my own connectors like the ones that Trains Control System sells.

I am installing decoders in my brass steam locos and these connectors are handy to connect the engine to the tender and connect wires inside the locomotive.
