IAIS's West End - Upgrading the Atlas Trainman RS32/RS36
Yesterday I finished detailing and modifying a factory painted Atlas Trainman RS36 to represent Iowa Interstate 900. These RS36s, and sister Atlas Trainman RS32s, are great running, affordable models, making them perfect subjects for upgrades, so I thought I'd document what I did in case it benefits others out there. Since IAIS 900 is black, I thought it'd be easiest to show the new details now, before they're painted and the model is weathered. Photos follow in the next post.
How can I program 3 digit CVs on Digitrax DT100, DB150 ?
I am feeling very far behind the modern times, sadly. Already i cannot make use of modern function keys above #8 and now i seem to have found I have even more limitations as I try to make changes to 3 digit CV sound variables...

From June 20 to June 28, 2015, these boards will be

Want to know more about these boards, check these threads and articles on MRH:
-manual turnout article-anyone recall this?
I can remember an article in Model Railroader, do not recall name or author, had to be between years of 2005-2007, that was a hot-to article on building a very simple manual turnout. I actually built a few of these on a small N-scale layout I helped my nephew build. Here is what I remember:

Having Fun with SMD LEDs
One of my favorite aspects of model railroading is lighting - especially when it is done in a way where it isn't obvious that you have a resistor, led, and two wires in the light fixture. More in the next post below, with photos!
Moving JMRI Tables
I am upgrading my computer system so that I can use separate monitors to control my layout. I would like to know if the tables(Turnout, Sensors etc...) from my earlier version (2.14) Jmri can be used on the newest version I just downloaded (3.10.1 ). The old version was on an old XP machine, and my "new" system runs windows 7. Sure would be nice not to have to key in all that data!! NCE Powerhouse Pro-R

Decoder for Older Atlas Loco
I have several older Atlas (made by Kato) locomotives. RS3s and RS1s. I am wondering if they use the same drop in light board decoder as the newer ones do. I am too lazy to dig them out and take them apart. I know they have a funky lighting system with a bulb in the middle etc... Just wondering.
Also, if anyone has any Atlas dual mode decoders they have taken out of locos for upgrades, I am interested in buying them if they are just laying around. I can't seem to find any on eBay. I'm on a budget and any decoder is better than none.
