Spacing between telegraph poles
Does anyone know the prototypical spacing used between telegraph poles and did it vary at all depending on where in the US or Canada the rail was located or the actual rail line it was on? Would like to plant the poles using a reasonable approximation but couldn't find any actual info on spacing. Thanks

Layout Update: Mid June 2015 - Part 1
The current work area is located in the center of the peninsula on the upper or third level of the layout. All of the track and turnouts for this area have been installed and it is now ready for the fun part, known as electrical installation.
Rear rail DCC Consist
Back in the hobby after a long hiatus and back to HO. I have decided that dead rail is the way to go. I have used batteries in R/C airplanes for a long time. Not a problem. I don't want to crawl under the layout chasing bad, expensive wiring anymore (too old). My layout will not have steep grades or long trains so tractive effort is not a problem.

Re-imagined Rico,CO
C19 346 is being turned on the Rico turntable at the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society's very large HOn3 layout during a TT&TO ops session. Rico has been "re-imagined" to suit the needs to the layout. The roundhouse is scratchbuilt by Andy Hunter from Great Northern Standard plans. The turntable is a highly modified Fleischman N scale model by John Stravino and is controlled by a DCC decoder. LA Roe used Bragdon rocks molds for plaster castings and Woodland Scenics foliage.

Rust-Oleum Track Paint
In the past I used Floquil Tie Brown to paint flex track. This is no longer available but Rust-Oleum just introduced a roof accessory paint called Weathered Wood. It is a perfect match for tie brown, its low cost - $4.77 at Home Depot-, comes in 12 oz size, sticks to flex track and has a fine pigment so does not hide detail.
Type of trees?
What were the trees on the hillside in Tom Patterson's purple weed demo? Name and source?
New town of Haleiwa
I've been moving along and started some basic scenery and inspired to put in some "water" using ideas from others on this forum.

Interested in purchasing a 3D printer to produce HO scale model parts and maybe even containers. Would like a reasonably priced printer with easy to use software if thats a possible combination. Any help would be most appriciated.
