What is it? Can you ID this car type?

I bought 20 of these in a box at an auction. I have had no luck figuring out what prototype they are supposed to represent. As far as the models they have no manufacturer's mark that I can find. I think it says "Austria" on the underbody so I'm guessing Rivarossi. Pizza cutter wheels in talgo trucks. Looking for the road numbers on photo archive web sites only tells me no one has posted anything in the range of any of the numbers I have on the cars. Any body seen something like this in real life?

O Scale Scratchbuilt Roadside Produce Stand

I went thru my scrap box yesterday and came up with this idea.  Shack and truck flatbed was made from scrap Alder wood.  Roof is printed card stock ran thru paper roller (bought at Hobby Lobby).  Everything was weathered with chalks.

Iphone4 Loudspeakers

I do not know if it has been pointed out before but Rapido trains are selling the Iphone4 speakers combined with a Sound decoder on their website, this must be an endorsement to the great comments that have been made on here regarding these speakers. I personally have been fitting these in my units with great success and would not fit anything else now and I have purchased a few more while they are cheap because you know what happens when everyone knows.

Bachmann Sound Value Climax gear tower issues

Hi all,

I have a Bachmann Sound Value Climax locomotive, and It's had some issues direct from the retailer.

The motor, decoder, speaker & side rods work perfectly, but somewhere in the gear tower, the gears don't mesh. I've taken it apart several times, but I can't figure out where the problem is.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks,

CFNR 501

It's here

My benchwork guy just called, he is bringing over the first of my new modules!  Some questions I will answer up front - he is an MRH advertiser, I have seen his work, and he lives 10 miles from me (free delivery!) This module is very complicated on the top surface, so complicated that it was worth it to farm it out.

The module will be the subject of a future article, so you can start holding your breath now.

1:50 Road Grader

I bought this little grader off of EBay with intentions of weathering and re-selling but it looks so good on my diorama that I think it is a keeper.  This grader was weathered with sandpaper, chalks (alcohol used as bonding agent) and real dirt.  I even shot the windshield with my pin nailer to get realistic broken glass.

Any guesses to what these Wood chip hoppers are?

Here are some hoppers carrying wood chips in 1984 of an Alco S1 in Quincy Railroad livery. I cannot make out what kind of car is being used to haul the wood chips from the lumber mill to the main line to be picked up by the WP.  Have looked on Google with no answers, they are UP & maybe Great Northern cars, dump cars. Could they be grain cars with their roofs removed?

Thanks RJ
