MTH ES44AC DCC ready issues HO
Recently purchased 2 MTH DCC ready ES44AC HO engines. I decided to wait for the 28mm speakers before I converted them to RailPro decoder equipped engines. They come with pretty decent instructions compared to my other recent Fox Valley purchase. I used a 8 to 9 pin adaptor cable after removing the 2 preinstalled jumpers on the 8 pin socket. I also removed the metal jumpers for the ditch light and number board internal feeds so they will be controlled instead by the decoder which has 6 light outputs.
DCC Deadrail 0-4-2 Porter
Well I've been working on my livery of dead rail steam engines and Den (Morenci Southern) kind of prodded me to install a decoder and batteries in a Porter. Just looking at it seemed impossible so, of course, I had to try.
Taking it apart involved some head scratching and eventually so dove in. It seems as though the whistle and a steam dome are lost among the sh$zza on my desk but below are some pictures of the progress.
Thanks for looking and I always enjoy comments. Good, bad, or ugly. Must have thick skin ...
Selling trains on the internet
Hi, the recent RMC mentions selling trains on the internet with no resources mentioned. Other than eBay, have folks had any luck with other resources.
As an aside, I wish I had a local hobby shop! live in rural Northern California and all decent stores are hours away.

Modeler's Tip: Possible source for free tools
I'm always looking for free / cheap tools and supplies. Yesterday when I visited my dentist for my semi-annual cleaning I was able to score some dental picks the same kind that they charge a couple of bucks for at train shows. On my previous visit I asked the dental assistant if I could have any leftover tool that they normally throw out and she said sure! She said that they even sterilize the tools that they throw out so they are safe. I use the picks for carving rocks and other chores so they come in handy. Oh, by the way - the mirror is the magnifying type.
CN train missing?
Apparently CN has lost a 47-car freight.

Running trains
I hear so much about operations but was just wondering if there are any like me. I just enjoy just watching trains run, building rolling stock and working on scenery. I've been involved in operations but at times it's like watching grass grow. Maybe I'm missing something ?

Reverse loop and dim bulb
So I've got myself a plan...but, it's smarter than I am.
Illustrated below is the problem I have created for myself...the loop portion actually comprises the majority of the layout and it seems less than practical to switch the polarity of the whole thing as in the usual reverse loop scenario. But, I am danged if I can see how to accomplish it.
