Tam Valley Booster
Does anybody have experience expanding NCE's Powercab with the Tam Valley boosters? I know you run a command station bus from the Powercab that you connect the boosters to but can you use that bus to control a section of track that will only see one to two locos?
Pulp mills, A video field trip
Found this Youtube video field trip and thought I would pass it on. Since Pulp mills are a good RR customer and offer a lot operational opportunities to model there may be some who might want to understand the basic operations. Be warned though it's a little lacking in video/sound quality

Creating RR paperwork
Not that I am anywhere close to having any sort of Ops Session (though the gameplan is to have the first one - hopefully - next year), it is fun to at least think about how the layout is to be operated.

HO Scale Ratchet Style Load Binders for Freight Load Tie Downs
PDC.CA is pleased to announce...
HO RATCHET STYLE LOAD BINDERS!
Each set contains 15 complete binders that mate perfectly with Builders In Scale No. 250 40 lpi chain, and should also work with 51 lpi chain. Each set also includes extra hooks, shackles, and partial binders to leave lying around the dock.

Delving into the past
Delving into the past of a location will be the activity I undertake on this Blog. This idea was inspired by myself and three other folks two of which I suspect did not know they were doing the inspiring. I have had discussions with several folks on the site about my free lanced line and followed many threads and blogs on here that talk about research of the prototype and modeling it. Others talk about being bitten by the rolling stock buying bug and have rolling stock in more than one era.
My first module - Painting castings - The fun begins
This is a reminder of where I am heading towards.
Now that the plaster castings are in place I could start painting, the fun part.
Connecting up to bus wire
Greetings one and all. With the upcoming dismanteling and moving of the C&E, it gives me an opportunity to do some underneath wiring before I reassemble it in its new home.. My question is how do most of you connect your feeder wires to your bus wire? Do you use suitcase connectors? Or solder directly to the bus? Or some other method? And if you solder right to the bus, what is the easiest way to strip out a small section of insulation where you are going to solder.

Bending Structural Styrene Channels
I'm getting ready to bend some .060" styrene channel. I'm looking for a 45 degree bend. I've watched a few videos on using various heat sources to make the bend but all have dealt with rod or sheets and not structural shapes. I'm worried about losing the shape itself. For example, I have some C-beams and the bend will be towards the sides forming the C. I could free bend it. Some people use a small metal rod to bend it over and with the warm styrene, I don't want the rod to crush the sides forming the C.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are Metal Wheelsets Worth it?
I have rolling stock mainly consisting of older tyco and some trainset quality life-like cars that I am using for my switching layout. They all not have body mounted Kadees and the question remains should I convert them to Metal Wheelsets? I have 18 cars being used on the "layout" and was curious what is the cheapest/most economic way to get enough for them all? I as many of you know have an extremely small budget so whatever help you can give would be appreciated!
RBR&W Locomotive Roster
Hello again
After sharing both the route map and paint schemes of the Roanoke, Blue Ridge and Western (RBR&W) on my MRH blog, I've decided to go a step further. Attached to this post is a Microsoft Excel document containing the current locomotive roster of the RBR&W for my early 1970s era. There are no road numbers listed as I have yet to develop an appropriate numbering scheme to reflect old and new numbering practices on the RBR&W.
Please enjoy and let me know what you think.
