Locos - Rolling stock (general)

San Pablo Valley RR #20 (Another Blackstone C-19 Project)

Consolidation #20 is ready to join the roster.  She started as a Blackstone diamond-stacked C-19 and received a lot of the same treatment #19 did.  The most notable differences between the two are that #20 has a notably shorter smokebox and older-style headlight, in addition to an intermediate C-16 pilot rather than the plow.

Looking For This

Roof. The car started from a undecorated kit from Branchline. I swore that at one time you could get the roof from Atlas when they took them over but it's no were to be found on their website. I have emailed Atlas and am waiting their reply. Does any body have any ideas who makes a roof like this. Its a 40' Diagonal panel roof. I have to build say 20 or more of these cars. The other thing I was thinking of was to have them 3D printed. Would this be a wise option or to costly.

Early streamliners - McKeen motor cars & trailers and other doodlebugs

I've started with two McKeen sets in 1/29-scale (if the results  will be satisfying, maybe a preliminary practice for a model in 1.6" -scale).

First set will be a 70' McKeen motor coach car with knife-shaped nose; it will receive a 31' baggage trailer. I had SP's #45 with it's trailer in mind first, but made the mistake with the knife-nose, which wasn't Harriman design - so I'll look for fitting prototype...maybe UP's #25, which came from ATSF or V&T's #22 w/o the trailer.

TTX Decals

I recently bought Extreme Load no. ONE and TWO from Precision Design Co. (pdc.ca) and I also found 2 Walthers 4 Truck depressed center flat cars, undecorated. I am having trouble finding TTX decals that are suitable for the car. I will post a picture of what I am looking for. Any help is much appreciated. Oh, and Happy New Year!

Cornhill & Atherton - first caboose and a question

This is the C&A’s first (proper) caboose and also my first caboose kit build.

It’s a ‘musty box old’ Silver Streak kit of around ’75 vintage and went together like a dream.

Tying Down A Rail Load

I am working on a Flat Car that will become part of an MOW 'consist' (is that the right term?).  I am Taking inspiration from CP Rail flat car #301578, more specifically from three photos taken by MRH contributor Jurgen Kleylein and posted on the Canadian Freight Car Gallery.

A project for the Walthers undec All door car Thrall box car

For years I have been looking for the perfect project for this Walthers undecorated All-Door Thrall kit. I ran across this neat decal set on the Highball Graphics site(set F-338). Here is the car getting switched out at Shaw lumber.
