Roof. The car started from a undecorated kit from Branchline. I swore that at one time you could get the roof from Atlas when they took them over but it's no were to be found on their website. I have emailed Atlas and am waiting their reply. Does any body have any ideas who makes a roof like this. Its a 40' Diagonal panel roof. I have to build say 20 or more of these cars. The other thing I was thinking of was to have them 3D printed. Would this be a wise option or to costly. I have seen some great things guys are doing with the 3D printing but I know nothing about the programs to design them. Would someone be willing to make this.

Thanks for your help.

Could you buy cars of the

Could you buy cars of the same type and then strip and repaint them? I have copied the web address below from a hobby shop that has both an online and brick and mortar store. I have dealt with them in both ways and found them to be good folks to deal with.

Decorated Cars

Rob.

Yes I could do that but what I'm thinking is using the roof from this car and the body from an Intermountain car. These Branchline cars are getting harder to find undecorated. If I have to I will end up going the route of stripping cars and painting them for the Toronto Hamilton & Buffalo Ry.

Diagonal Panel Roof

Intermountain has parts available and has this style roof.

I've acquired a large pile of various Intermountain parts and components from one of my dealers.

Did you use the search function? I found this right away searching for "diagonal panel".

Search

cthart.

I have tried the search on their site and came up empty. Thanks for that link. Even the people at Atlas could not tell me anything.

Roof Panel

Chris.

How do you find the parts from Intermountain. They don't have them listed on their website. Could you by chance let me know who your dealer is.

The Part is in stock on the Atlas site.

Member cthart  above in a post put the link to the Atlas page with the roofs on it.

Go to the atlas site and go to the online store click on that.  The next page has a search bar in the left top corner.  Type in 40' diagonal roof.   Hit the go button and the next page has the part your looking for as the very first item for Branchline.

Casting Resin

Hi Willy,

Have you considered making a rubber mold and using resin casting?

Because of copyright, you can't sell them, but you can make them for personal use.

Hmm, this is the detail parts listing page, doesn't seem to currently include boxcar roofs, although I did order a stack of them once.

I ordered through TMR Distributing, he can order what you need from Intermountain.

Roof

Chris.

Thanks for your help. If I can make it to the Paris show on the 18 I will talk with Terry and see what we can come up with. After the post about the Atlas site I tried it and found them so I will probably get them from Atlas.
