Locos - Rolling stock (general)
Central Vermont 7917. Converting an Atlas S2 to DCC w/sound
Work has finally begun on converting a stock, undecorated Atlas S2 to represent the Central Vermont's #7917 circa 1956.
I chose this loco and this year as it had some very unique visual features including a long toolbox forward of the cab, and triangle shaped number boards.
To prepare for this project, I had opened another topic that proved to supply some additional historical data, and some great ideas on the parts to be used. I won't duplicate that post, but you can see it here.

Another project in the wings. This is an old Display Craft wood craftsman kit. I've assembled the main body & metal detail parts for the most part. The wood body has been coated with two layers of Minwax sanding sealer to conceal the wood grain.

BMLA Topgon arrived today!
I received the in-stock notice from MB Klein saying the non-logo topgon was in stock, and I immediately ordered one (last one according to the site!).
My model just came in today. Kudos goes out to BLMA for a PERFECT product, paint & printing is sharp. End detail, including wheel size info is included in the printing. Detail is one of the best on the market. The only thing it lacks is full brake piping and the train airline hose (I'll use a Hi-tech real rubber hose for the latter).
