New BC&SJ paint scheme

The 32nd Ave. shops recently completed the new, experimental paint jobs on BC&SJ #74 and #75 (Kato RS-2s). Railroad management seemed delighted. Give Joe Brugger (32nd Ave Shops head honcho) an Atta Boy!

Cheers,

Charlie

CV 501 - A basic conversion of an IHC 0-8-0

I've had a couple of IHC locos in my collection, purchased years ago simply because they had Central Vermont markings.

One of them is an 0-8-0 switcher, that I wouldn't mind getting to run.  To me, the IHCs are a lot more "toyish" than model, but I don't care - I would just really like to have a heavy yard switcher to add to my list.

I've decided to do a quick, basic turn around on this - I won't be super detailing it, or making it match the prototype bolt for bolt.

An N scale AC-12 in a far flatland: Italy

As this place seems "immune" from the Intermountain's AC plague (Ho model seems to suffer of never end discussions and some N scale too), well, mine run nice from the beginning!

Model railroading or trying to start WW 3

I found this video interesting.  Great animation of the Minuteman launch system.  My wife used to work on this project before it was cancelled in the early 1990s. . .

Decal paper

I'm looking into making custom decals for rolling stock, using blank decal paper and a laser printer.  Microscale and Champ do not list blank papers, but Walthers does.

Walthers 932-706821 is Dull finish blank decal paper.

Walthers 934-706822 is Gloss finish blank decal paper.

Has anyone used these?      Plus/Minus?          Is there a preference for using Dull finish or using Gloss finish?

Is there another brand that you recommend?  Other ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

Decoder install: Athearn RTR SD45 & SD40T-2

I have never installed a decoder in any of the new Athearn HO RTR SD45's or SD40T-2's.  Does anyone have any pictures or descriptions of the install?

I have some bare TCS T4X - 9 pin header plug is all, no harness type.  My guess is with the SD45 the shell comes off and the decoder simply plugs in.  The SD40T-2, can you do this by removing the DB blister or is it best to take the shell off?

Thanks!
