Locos - Rolling stock (general)
Walthers HO diner interior kit components -- anyone have a parts list or instructions?
I just bought an old kit, #U743 (later number probably 933-743) that has a lot of metal chairs and pieces of wood but precious few other metal parts. The other metal parts include a pair of three-hatch hinged covers, a hopper (toilet), a bathroom sink and a flat piece approx. 3/16" x 1/2" with some raised rectangular shapes that defies description.
SP FMC double door box cars
I've casually looked at photo's of the FMC double door box cars. Some have the Youngstown doors and some with Superior doors. Ok, I forget which is which, but it seems the box cars came with one kind and then later seemed the other kind, with the wider panels became more common. Did one replace the other and if so why?
CURRENT FREIGHT CAR BUILD
Hi fellow modelers
First I want to thank all of you for your high praise for my layout tour post. It even got me all jacked up to start working on the layout even more. Would love to at least partially finish all of the upper deck scenery this year. First I have to finish some freight car projects I'm working on. On that note, here are some photos.
Modeling California in the Great State of Hawaii
I sit on a ridge in a jungle valley looking through flowering trees to the distant mountains. The air is fresh and fragrant. The birds celebrate the day in song. When it rains, which is often enough, I work on my model railroad because I like trains. But more than that, what I really like to do is to create a world in miniature and the trains are my vehicle to do so.
searching for decals/dry transfers
I recently purchased a bunch of P2000 8,000 gal and 10,000 gal tank car kits that were undecorated at a swap meet, could not pass them up!. I've been searching the web and local hobby shops for 1940's- 1950's appropriate decals for these cars but no luck. All i want is some plain UTLX or SHPX type decals without refinery logos for black tank cars. I know Champ USED to make them but those are long gone. I am not having any success finding a current manufacturer for anything like them. If anyone knows of a source this would be greatly appreciated.
Freight Cars - what should I be using?
My primary railroad is the Colorado & Northwestern RR, a Colorado turn of the century (1906) shelf layout. For this period I have all the research material I need.
What I need help with is the new bug. I recently stumbled across a picture of a Santa Fe GP7 threading its way between two curved buildings a "brick canyon" so to speak. So not only did I acquire the urban scenary bug but a more modern one as well.

Need advice on Trucks for turn of the century HO scale
Hi,
I am buying a Roundhouse 36' "old time" boxcar kit. I need to get trucks and couplers. I am not worried about couplers right now because I don't have any other cars to couple to.. but want some advice on buying HO trucks. This is completely outside my element. I have one advantage in this.. by having no existing fleet I am free to start with whatever standard I choose to put in place.
I presume I will need arch bar or andrews trucks.
Can I get a recommendation on a good quality prototypical truck I can equip my kit with?
Thanks,
