SP SD9E BUILD
Hi Guys. I promised I would post some pics of this build. This was the last RPP shell I had in my to-do closet. I've had it for years. Thought about selling it or junking it in lieu of getting a Proto SD9, but decided to let it rip. This will be a layout workhorse more than a static display model, so I decided to live with the some of the crude details of the shell, and fix what was easy and reasonable, plus add the appropriate details.
Definition of insanity!
Hope someone gets a kick out of this. The lengths we go to are amazing! I've been cutting out decals to do my second AMR all-door that has been gathering dust on my shelf for a few months, and I couldn't resist taking a pic of this. I hear that you can get blank decal paper and print your own decals. Maybe I should have tried that.
More completed freight cars
You're probably thinking that I am cranking out freight cars at warp speed, but most of these projects have been in various stages of completion for several years. Recently I decided to clear out the workshop and get current with my various projects. Last year I finished and painted all of these cars, and this year I decaled them and am now in the weathering and finishing touches stages. Here's the latest:
All-door freight car build update + more
Here is where I'm at with the Arcata & Mad River all-door.
Cannon boxcar ends + build update
Here is an update to my A&MR all-door build:
Here are the base layers for the doors installed. Also visible is the "holy" gusset plate on the end of the sill. On my last post I had a picture of the center plug doors. Since then I realized the spacing was incorrect and had to re-make them. The correct doors are shown above.
CURRENT FREIGHT CAR BUILD
Hi fellow modelers
First I want to thank all of you for your high praise for my layout tour post. It even got me all jacked up to start working on the layout even more. Would love to at least partially finish all of the upper deck scenery this year. First I have to finish some freight car projects I'm working on. On that note, here are some photos.
SP SHASTA ROUTE LAYOUT TOUR
Hi Y'all
I decided to quit procrastinating and start a blog. I'll probably post mainly about my main interest which is modeling prototype freight cars, but for my first post I figured I would introduce myself and my layout.
About me: I live in the Nashville TN area. I have a lovely wife and son. I'm self-employed as a cabinetmaker. My other interests are deer hunting and bass tournaments. This is my fourth layout (second layout that wasn't sectional track on a sheet of plywood).
