Printed Road Correction

I would like to thank DRGW-488-Fan for pointing out that the county engineer made a drastic mistake when the road in the picture below was designed.

To help alleviate the issue until the county can perform a new design study my HO scale road crew has installed the following sign.

I'm looking this kit

I'm looking for a Faller HO kit. Kit number is 130175, chemicals plant. Let me know if you have one. Last time I checked out the Amazon & Rocousa sites & both sold out. I'm trying to stay away from Ebay. Below is the pic of the kit I'm looking for.

What's on your workbench - June 2020

A new month with new projects. Let's see what you have!

My latest: A Westerfield ATSF Bx-13 boxcar with some additional wood weathering to go. With the virus and social plans on hold for the summer, it's a great time to build out all of your kits collecting dust!

Gas or Oil Lighting

So I'd been on and off working on lighting on my layout, using mainly LEDs. But I wanted an effect of an era that was just moving from gas or oil lighting into electric. Around last Christmas the wife had some of those little battery operated tea lights set up as decoration. I was watching one flicker and thought this could be a possible solution.

Paper Mill Kitbash: Design and Oops

One requirement on this structure was that it be possible to pick it up to retrieve derailed cars inside, or on the staging track that passes beneath it at the rear. The stock kit builds into a compact rectangular box, which would be no problem. My version has two wings, with a big split in the floor where the track goes, which made worry that picking it up would put a strain on the middle of the building. So I ran two pieces of aluminum stock across to create a rigid spine, as seen here:

Jas's Printed Roads

When I say Jas's printed road idea I thought I would give it a try to repave the village of Humbird on my layout. I used a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator to produce the paving images and printed them on heavy paper.

Here are a couple of images of the installed roadway. Bother the road and parking lot was done using his printing technique.

Thanks for sharing this idea Jas, I love how it turned out.

Baro's 9x2.5

Hello folks, never really posted here but thought I'd share the current progress on my little 9x2.5 N scale layout I've been working on over the last year.

The layout is almost entirely urban with most buildings scratch-built.

My most recent task has been striping the streets and generally getting that sort of work done.
