When I say Jas's printed road idea I thought I would give it a try to repave the village of Humbird on my layout. I used a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator to produce the paving images and printed them on heavy paper.

Here are a couple of images of the installed roadway. Bother the road and parking lot was done using his printing technique.

Thanks for sharing this idea Jas, I love how it turned out.

Funny,I thought I saw some familiar passenger cars back there...

Are those Denver and Rio Grande Western passenger cars near the upper left corner in the background of the first photo, in front of the boxcar-red hoppers?

Also, and forgive me for saying this second, nice roads you got there!  Though it looks as if the county road planner may have been cutting a few corners in hopes that Tesla Hover Cars would be invented before construction was through.

Check out the "Please Show Us Your Steam Locomotives" series, started me back in March 2020, and check out some of the cool locomotives owned by members of the Model Railroad Hobbyist forum.

The roads and parking lot look "spot on"! The colors are true which is not always easy with gray tones and printers. Congrats!

Funny...

Actually the car (not cars) is an articulated auto rack.

Do you have the link to the post or article he wrote describing his technique?

Jas. never really published his printing technique as he is planning on marketing his roads. Because I don't want to interfere with his plans I won't be publishing what I did other than to say I used multiple colors for the roadway and a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to produce the files.

Great technique....

I’ve found aged asphalt one of the toughest colors to get right. Aged concrete also...

@Greg  May I ask if you are using inkjet or laser printer?

Printer...

Definitely a color laser. I don't think the inkjet would hold up to adding the rest of the scenery as it out tend to run if it got wet.

I recommend using matte paper.  I first tried it with glossy paper, which works great if you're modeling a rainy day!
