Concrete Building Piers - Foundation Parts

Has anyone seen a source for cast concrete foundation piers in HO scale?  I'm speaking about the precast concrete structures - typically about 18" square at the base, tapering to about 12" square at the top, designed to carry the structure of a raised wooden floor system?  Any suggestions appreciated before I go try to cast them myself in Hydrocal.

Thanks

Problem with Woodland Scenics Earth Colours

I'm very disappointed that I used Woodland Scenics Earth Colour to colour the terrain on my layout.

Today I started applying some static grass on white glue, but the glue is reacting to the surfaces coated with Woodland Scenics Colours - it is curdling and not adhering to areas that were coated with the Woodland Scenics product, as seen here turning white and separating from the coated surface.

Modelling a beautiful wooden platform from early 1900s

Hi! This week I've been making a model of a beautiful wooden platform from early 1900s. The construction is not very complicated or demanding. The total work time for a 700mm platform was about 8 hours including integration on the layout.

Auto Distribution Facility

Thought I would show a few pictures of my Auto Distribution Facility.  The unloading ramps, trailers and buildings are from the Walthers Distribution Facility kit.  I ordered the cars off of ebay.  They are 1:100 scale, but fit the trailers nicely and give the facility a larger appearance.  The fencing is scratchbuilt using ceiling tile hanger wire, thule and thread to simulate the barbed wire at the top.

Steam crane kit

Looking for a kit of a HO scale steam crane. Would prefer a crawler but car mounted would work also.

Great-looking roads without airbrushing

Many articles on creating good-looking road surfaces leave the impression that airbrushing is essential.  Not so.  You also can obtain a great result with humble brushes.  Begin by remembering that most road surfaces, save for those just paved, often vary substantially in color.  Among other things, wear and tear creates "lanes in lanes."  Modelers can approximate this variation by combining two techniques.  First, paint in layers, varying colors from layer-to-layer, applying each new layer before the previous layer is entirely dry.  Keep paint t

ALPINE RAILROAD IN NJ-LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS

I am asking the MHR community for some help in solving a problem I created with my choice of layout scenery. My layout was originally conceptualized 25 yrs ago as a much smaller layout with no intention of adding a backdrop or anything like that. I started this current version with the old idea then expanded it because I had the room to do so. Although I do plan on adding a backdrop at some point, I didn't take this into consideration when I stuck with the basics of how I originally thought the scenery would look.
