Layout design
Expertise Wanted
After several attempts to "reorganize" my thoughts with suggestions from my last posting, I have come to the realization that efficient and innovative layout design is not my true forte. I am looking for someone who can incorporate the two designs I like best into a practical and efficient layout for reasonable compensation.
Still Conceptualizing
Subject: On30 track plan for my garage attic
Below is a plan I've started building now that the weather is improving and muddy issues are behind us.
Old railroad - new direction
After months of trying to shoehorn Richard's surviving pieces of his HO railroad I gave up. Rather, I gave in to my narrow gauge bug. A layout design in a publication got me thinking. What if I salvaged as much track as possible and us it for an On30 layout? The switches and flex track were not coming up intact anyway so I thought I'd relay them on longer and wider spaced ties. A sample of may little staging in progress are is attached.
New Layout
Next month the old layout will start to come down and the proposed new, continuous running one will start to take shape. I have attached a diagram (first time working with this program so it is a bit rough) for your comments. The current point-to-point had a number of flaws in its operation and design. So, with the "acquisition" of some new space from my wife, who is being more than gracious since I agreed that a furnace, washer and dryer are essential, I now have a larger area. The new size is 12' x 5' x 30" deep around two support poles.
Yard Layout, Roundhouse and Turntable
Busy day at the terminal
Garage layout plan needs a bridge.
I have one side of the garage bench work complete. I need ideas on what to use as a "mainline run" spanning the width of my garage door (11') to the other half of the layout.
