Dream and design
in need of help with Brookings SD
Well I am in need of help. I'm trying my hand at a track plan of Brookings SD and its just not working. The room is a J shape short wall is 6' the bottom of the J is 12' 8'' and the long wall is 16'. So this will be point to point. I think my wish list is a tad on the large size.
N vs. HO help
Hi gang. New member here. I started in the hobby 25 years ago in N scale due to apartment living limitations. Built a small doortop layout for my son before life interfered. Well now I'm an empty nester with two empty 10 x 10 bedrooms separated by a 3' x 10' closet, which I think will be great for staging.
ICRR NEW ORLEANS circa late 1940's Layout for N-Scale
Well its finally finished (mostly, Benchwork drawings would need to be done before construction begins), and here it is for your use if you want it, and would love to get your feedback. The track plan is drawn in AutoDesk 2006 for anyone that wants it, contact me at guymartin1956@gmail.com.
Need some design input
After the unmitigated disaster which was my first go at designing a layout to fit my space, budget, and G's & D's, I hit on an idea, but I need some feedback.
I'm a big fan of Scott Perry's "Better Beginner's Layout" a.k.a. the Heart of Georgia/HOG:

N Scale Staging Question
Sorry for yet another question! How are you/would you handle staging on a N Scale layout? I am currently looking at an 12" - 18" deep shelf with staging 7" below connected via helixes. Am I better off going to 24" deep and putting staging behind a removable backdrop? I am not sure of the height, but I am thinking of around 37" (sit and run height), so standing up would allow easy access to the staging area. One drawback that I can think of is that there will be less overall staging on just one deck.

Air Museum Scene
On my travels I came across the Texas Air Museum just north of Slaton Texas. I think this would make a neat scene on a modern model layout for anyone wishing to display military aircraft models. To my surprise there was an FA18A just off FM400. The aircraft types could be selected to represent any era that would fit the railroad being modeled. The museum theme would allow a mix of different aircraft.
Illustrator
Hi all
I want to design my lay-out in Adobe Illustrator.
Is there a plug-inn for Illustrator with track tools etc.

Narrow Gauge in Maine--still alive after all these years? A freelance proposal
I have come to really like narrow gauge as a part of a larger scene. I've started a concept for narrow gauge (2') still running in Maine as a working railroad in more modern times; I would love any thoughts on the possibility of this railroad actually working--could railroad history have gone this way? The narrow gauge will be a significant part of the layout, along with the interchange with standard gauge. The line's sense of history--and the tourist trade--insure that the older locomotives and rolling stock still survive.

My Ft Worth T&P and KATY layout design. Heading in a different direction. Tell me what you think. UPDATED
Hey gang. I really appreciate all of the help you guys have given me so far. But I've been struggling with the layout and Tower 55 in Fort Worth. I've tried several different things with trying to make it work out with having two separate railroads try and meet in the middle. But I just couldn't make it work. So I've gone back to my original thought/design.
Need suggestions, expanded Mount Galena Mines
Greetings
Having recently been bit by the bug after several years, I found SCARM an began tinkering with it. I had also discovered an old copy of Iain Rice's 'Small Smart and Practical'. Therein was the gem of an idea, a 4x8 ripped lengthwise, but with curves in it to allow a turnaround. Just one problem.
18" radius curves.
