Dream and design

What Did I Miss?
I'm in the process of designing my layout. Along with that, I am creating a website with the intent of teaching others how to begin the process of designing and building a layout. Some of you have already clicked on the links in my signature, and thank you.
I've just put up the level two page for layout design. This is the page that connects to all the pages that will describe the topics in detail. As such, this page doesn't contain any detail, just very brief descriptions of each topic.
Greenville & Northern
Was wondering if anyone is modeling the Greenville & Northern? With the railroad gone now for some time there is a lack of overhead shots that could be used to design a short layout and I have all of the magazine articles about the railroad though none show details about sidings and how the industrial trackage was laid out. The articles have nice photos that gives some idea but not enough to be fairly accurate. Any suggestions as to sources for such information?
Thanks

N-scale track plan - comments welcome
Hello. I was hoping for anyone’s thoughts or ideas on my track plan.

Figure 8 helix?
Okay, perhaps this is a terrible idea, but I thought I'd throw it out there...
The evolution of the DDA40X engine
Hi all.
I'm in the beginning stages of kitbashing a new engine and would like to know peoples opinions.
Background info.
In my world, GE has taken over where EMD left off with the engine. The latest build is based on the AC4400. The new engine still retains its roll as experimental, so it still retains the X designation. Here is my take on what it would look like.
Coal country on a shelf layout?
IS it possible to model coal country on a shelf layout? I'm having the devil's own time getting the look I desire on a shelf layout. Two feet/thirty inches just isn't cutting it for me. Photos would be helpful as well.
Rasch Studios N scale layout on eBay. With a video.

My N scale Ft Worth layout. what do you think.
OK, I'm back once again. Now that I am home and have time to work on the layout, I've found that some of my plans/ideas just will not work. I've done some remodeling in the garage, both with my tools and with my walls and cabinets. I've figured out that I just don't have enough room to do a double Decker. So I'm at least expanding the layout to a 17.5' by 18' L shape for the permanent part with a 16' removable two sided island.

A "San Juan Central" for Pacific Narrow Gauge Prototypes
With Blackstone Model's "Diamond Stack" freelance 2-8-0 on the horizon, it seems that having a small HOn3 narrow gauge layout which doesn't feature a Colorado prototype is becoming much more approachable for the average modeller. Looking back, the canonical entry point for HOn3 railroads was easily Malcom Furlow's San Juan Central. But even for it's time it was rife with issues: sharp curves, steep grades, and a poorly designed yard (Montrose).
Looking for an industry to model
Sooner or later (Within a year or less) I’ll be moving, and I’m not sure how much space I’ll have for a railroad. But, I want to start building more than just buildings, motorcars, and locomotives. I’m planning on building a small industry, with track and scenery—very small space so it can be incorporated into whatever I do build. The location is New England, and I want the place to accept a variety of cars. The big challenge is that I would like it to be fairly easy to redress it for various eras, from the 1920’s through the mi
