Dream and design
Lift-out section to access room?
I have the playroom above my garage ready for bench work. I do not have a track plan finalized yet.
This is HO scale, room is 24 x 20 useable area. 30" deep perimeter benchwork with a 48" or 60" wide peninsula (haven't decided yet)

Woodland scenics modules
Being that my layout will use the TOMA format, I am left wondering, if anyone has tried using the WS modules to create their layout, and what was you experience taking this route? Would you use them again. Other than the perk of all the scenery Stuff, I am reminded of what Joe said about foam in a few other posts.
My Mobile Modelling Workbench
The mobile modelling workbench that you see in the photo is born of 2 propositions: (1) I do my best modelling at my workbench and (2) necessity is the mother of invention. (I have the DNA samples.) I am lucky enough to have a layout which has one arm which is about 10 m long. The peninsular will probably end up being about 7 m long.

SP Lordsburg Sub - as of 170226
So, I've been laying (digital) paper-to-pencil for awhile now and think I have a workable, double-deck track plan. I'll post snap-shots of the various deck plans subsequent to this initializing post so as to keep this section short/brief. However, some background...
It's planned to be the SP 1982-ish from Tucson, AZ to Lordsburg, NM. When SP was largely single-tracked in this area and still had working semaphore signals. I'm designing it for operations.

Rolling stock display diarama
I would like to build a diarama to showcase modern(2007-present)rolling stock. I need your help deciding what type of scenery, such as midwestern, rocky mountains, appalachian. I also don't know how to arrange the track, because I want to incorporate this into a future switching/shelf layout.I am doing this project because I don't have space to have a real layout. It would probably be 2'x4'.
Initial Yard Design
Hello all,
I'm currently working on a design for a model railroad. Though I would share my plan for the yard for some comments. Thanks

Round 2
Hi all,
I'm looking for any thoughts or suggestions for the most recent version of my HO logging layout ( the first version is at http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/28454 ).
The area is based on British Columbia / 1930-40, with inspiration taken from a few logging lines of the Pacific Northwest especially the Capilano Timber Co. which ran out of North Vancouver. I wanted to model a point-to-point plan including a logging camp with a few facilities, log trains running through tree-filled terrain and a dirty, industrial port area.

Longtime railfans/modelers - how did you select an era, location, and prototype to model?
I have been a railfan and model railroader for 38 years (I’m 48 years old). I have built many layouts in N and HO scale over the years. Each had a different prototype RR, era, and location. However, for the last 12 years, I have not been able to commit to building a layout for a specific era, location, and prototype.
