Stein Jr's Website

Some time ago I had bookmarked the late Stein Jr.'s website - there were (are?) some great small layout designs on that site.  Looking for one of his track plans the other day, I noticed the link was broken.  A search of this forum and a Google search of the web doesn't seem to reveal the site location.  I suspect it has been taken down or closed since his passing.

Does anyone know if this wonderful site has been archived or hosted by someone else?  It would be terrible to lose such a wonderful resource!

Thanks!

Layout for Review

Hi, here is a layout that I am currently designing. It will be a small HO switching layout (approx. 8'x8' with a 6' yard.

I would appreciate any comments, (positive or negative) or changes to the layout. The track is Peco code 83 and the switches are Peco #5s. The width of each module is 18".

Small depot in urban/industrial environment

Hi,

For a future modeling project, I'm looking for prototype photos showing a traditional, e.g., rather small North American depot building in an urban or industrial environment. Does anybody have some pictures or suggestions for links?

Building Step by the number

Hi guys

Well I have or should I say had a 4x12 layout as my first and I made many mistakes LOL.  I bought Joe's run like a dream book and discovered lots of mistakes.  So I ripped everything off my layout to eventually do a 3 tier layout with a helix on one side and loops on the other end.  I cried a little as i was tearing everything apart and putting them it in boxes.  So my question is "what steps do you use to build your layout" ie 1. Planning, 2. Building, 3 Laying track?

Car Storage as a Layout

How about rail car storage as a layout?

https://goo.gl/maps/hdctRV2JhWs

You've got tons of staging, yards, a wye, two loops to turn around (put those tropes to work!). You can also use an area of turnouts sitting in place that you haven't gotten around to setting up yet as a prototypical area of expansion.

They have several SD40s and south of the sand facility you can see the tracks being built to their now-finished maintenance facility and car repair shop.

Is this overkill for a branchline terminus?

Is it more prototypical to have a track to the turntable coming from the mainline instead of the runaround track?

Revisiting module

Three years and 9 months ago, I built my first module that was suppose to be attached to a second module to the left of it, as seen below, but had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances and no space.
