Random Thoughts on Layout Design
Seeking feedback on an idea that has been floating in my head for a while.
Many of our layouts include hidden track that takes considerable time (and expense) to navigate, whether to or from staging, scenes, or helix, and my patience runs thin. The engine speeds up and sounds like NASCAR when approaching the porthole to the visible portion of the layout.

Surfline Concept Layout & Questions (Freight Ops & planning)
Hi all,
Long post warning. Having read several books / topics / pages on the topic i am a bit stuck so your help will be much appreciated (as always). Trying to do plausible things in a mix of Prototype with some freelance, possibly along the lines of Joe (Fugate) where he did mention Prototype with capital P and freelance with small f (if i understood the concept correctly).

North San Diego ATSF (training) Layout
Hi all,
I finally cleaned up the trackplan for my current (temporary) layout so its time for the corresponding layout topic.
It is a folded dog-bone design with stacked loops on one end. Both loops are hidden and represent points A and B (North and South, or East and West in order to be more precise). My railroad is the ATSF and the location is somewhere north of San Diego, in the mid to late 1960s.
