Need Help Designing Layout

I need help designing a layout. The maximum space I have to work with is 6x10.5 feet. Some constraints and requirements are:

24" minimum radius

A sizable yard

3 or more industrial sidings

A two rail mainline

Room to store large locomotives such as SD70ACEs and ES44s.

Lots of switching

A grade crossing w/ crossing gates

Space for an Atlas 2 rail Cantilever Signal Bridge

Walthers Code 83 turnouts

New layout Colorado & Steel Mill

Hello everyone. I am starting a new layout. It will be in two seperate rooms. The main layout is 12x16 Colorado based. The second room will be a steel mill 9x12. I am very close to finishing the benchwork in the main layout, so I will be getting foam down and start laying track by next week.

The track height is 40". I am ok with the long reaches 33" in some places. I can climb on the benchwork when installing track/switches. (I am a small guy).

Yard vs main line location; stub vs double-ended yard

Hello,

I'm in the process of designing my main yard and I have two choices:

- put the main line next to the aisle and yard behind it

- put the main line behind the yard, next to the wall

Reading on the interwebs, some people say that putting a main line next to the aisle impedes operating the yard when trains are passing by due to a potential to knock them over.

The Great Divide Lines A tribute to John Allen and the Gorre & Daphetid

I just recently ran across this VERY INTERESTING project to recreate John Allens model RR,...documented in this subject thread on another forum. Perhaps of interest to some model RR fans on this forum that may not know of it.

Container Port Ideas & Images

 Container Port Ideas & Images

I'm open to ideas & images to use for my container port that I wish to located in this area on my upper deck, just down from the SantaFe train station. This west coast port will be the imaginary origin for the container trains that will travel east to Baltimore located on the lower level.

layout plan for 16x24 space

Hello everyone

Its been quite  a long time since I posted here. Here is track plan for my 16x24 layout room which is in storage building. The layout will be freelanced eastern railroading for now I am planning around the mid 1970's, may revert back to steam transition era eventually.

Curve radius is 26" min. Max grade is 2% and all turnouts are fast tracks #5's. I still need to work on towns and industries spurs.

Single Water Tower Servicing Two Mainline Tracks

Can someone point me to an example were a single water tower (steam locomotive era) serviced 2 mainline tracks?

Perhaps at a wye?
Perhaps the water tower had two discharge nozzles, one on either side??

Signal Question

I am looking for some advise on signal aspect options for this control point. The plan is to have a two track main going down to a single track main that runs behind the yard into a staging yard. As for the two signals on the far left by the road crossing I am not worried about those as they are pretty standard aspects. Signal one and two are pretty much the same as the left two. It is signal three that is confusing me.

The two inside tracks both lead into the freight yard and there would be no more signals used to the right of these shown.

Suggestions for a Coal mine track plan

HI Folks:

I am working on track planning, and tonight the topic is my coal mine scene.  As you can see from the attached picture, I have an area about 8 - 9 feet long (the total area is 10 feet) by about 1 foot wide, this area is elevated about 3 inches above the main part of the table.

I model in N scale, and will be running modern equipment, and trains about 6 - 10 cars long (or maybe longer depending on how yard and scaling projects turn out as I continue to plan.
