Opinions on Main Parallel vs Angled to Benchwork
I decided to do a comparison of a recent iteration of my self layout with the main parallel and angled about 3 degrees. I would appreciate any comments on the advantages / disadvantages of an angled main as well as opinions between the two designs.
My only concern right now is the extra few inches in accessing the switch at the bottom of the run around. I want to manually control switches with a ground throw or a skewer flicking the switch and don't want to mess with under the table controls if possible.
Chris Holombo's Clear Creek 2 Rail O Scale
Have been hunting for a while this evening for a track plan off Chris Holombo's Clear Creek 2 Rail O Scale logging layout.
Memory may not be so great but i seem to recall seeing one at some stage in the past. Anyone know of one being published?
Meet The KC&G: Mainline To The Gulf
Hi All:
This will be a thread dedicated to the dreams n' schemes concerning my HO scale Kansas City & Gulf proto/free lance theme, which will (eventually) include two separate layouts.
One layout, the Ozark Sub portion, is a partial dual level that utilizes a "nolix" to connect the levels. The Ozark Sub is now up and 100% functional. Operations have been taking place for the past couple months or so. The Ozark Sub is housed in a separate out building built exclusively as a hobby building.
Starting Over
Good afternoon, I've decided to start over. If anyone is interested, take a look at the attached basement floor plan. Anything to the right of the dotted line is designated area for the layout. I'm trying to develop a track plan with the following parameters:
Era: 80's - early 2000's
85 Ft Commuter Cars and Modern 6 axle Engine Freight Trains
Double Track Mainline
Lower Level Staging
Min 30 - 32" Radius Curves
Min #6 Fast Tracks Turnouts
Need tips for adding scenery non-rail buildings to track plan
This might be an odd question here, but I'm find myself stuck at this point.
Yard scene needed for diorama; for switchers
I have five yard switchers that I run for fun only, as they do not belong in a small branch line terminus.

I'm looking for ideas to create a small shelf diorama to display my switchers on.
Something that would indicate it is obvious it is in a yard. Perhaps a yard office or a water column between tracks?

If you were to start new.....
If you were to start a new railroad....
So this is an attempt at a fun conversation to hear what other modelers would do if they were to start from scratch today and could not model what they currently are modeling.
Why do I ask, simple.. There are so many great things we can model and most of us are doing exactly what we want, but lets just say you have a clean slate and the only rule is you cant model what you have already done.
So lets here it, a brief what you model know, and what would you model and why?

Modifiying LED Lighting Fixtures
I have ended up buying several sets of LED lights consisting of 4 foot long thin tubes. I documented some of that here,..https://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/34508?page=1#comment-356573
Best option for turnout going into curve
I'm a little suck in putting together a design. I have a siding that will go around the outside of a curve and am unsure of how to proceed. I don't think there will be a new idea here but I would like some opinions. Thoughts so far are:
Right hand turnout with main on diverging leg - not "very" prototypical.
Left hand turnout into siding - looks very awkward, chews into space on lower leg of layout.
Curved turnout - likely will have to handlay, expensive for pre-made.
