Diesel locos
Genesis GP9's
Scooped a couple of these this weekend at 25% off. Got a pair of Southern Pacific's for my new Southern California shelf layout. I noticed in the manual they mention that installing a DCC decoder that on these Southern Pacific's have extra lights on the rear and I will have to solder them to the rear most pair of the tabs on the right hand side of the circuit board. I plan on using RailPro with these locos and not DCC at all. I'm starting out new and have decided that RailPro will be much easier for my layout.
SW1200RS & SWEEP projects
I've been building a pair of CP SW1200RS units. The bodies are painted, and I've embarked upon the work of converting the sideframes on a P2K switcher drive.
Kitbashing a pair Canadian Pacific gp35
Hi,
I had a deal on a pair of Athearn rtr Canadian Pacific gp35. At first I thought that
a good weathering job and a few details here and there was all they
need. But when I started to look for some prototype reference picture
it doesn't take long to realize that those cp model are all wrong.
Fist the Bell and headlight are not at the right place.
Fine, that's an easy job. Let's do it and they will run again in a week.
N scale Diesel repair?
If anyone repairs their N scale diesel locos, where do you find parts. I'm referring to older stock, not something listed on the Mfr's website. For example, I have an Atlas that was made in Austria, that I believe has a bad motor (it hums but won't run) . It's too old for Atlas to stock, and e-bay has none listed. So my question is where do I find one?
Scratchbuilt Loco Update.
I have finally made some more progress on my scratchbuilt loco that i posted earlier in my blog.
I have finished the Keystone locomotive Works cab interior and i am very happy with the way it came out.
MRH podcast
Hi All,
Just wondering what happened to Paul, Ryan and the podcast. There haven't been any updates since Oct 2012.
Any experience with LokSound Select or v4 DCC decoders?
I am looking for comments from those who have used, installed, or studied the LokSound v4 decoders. I am considering using a LokSound v4 micro in a older Walthers SW-1. I think it might be my best bet for getting sound in the SW-1.
I started another thread on my SW-1 upgrade: http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/13642
