It will now be referred to as the W.M.T ScrapYard

So what do i do in all my spare time, when im not working.. spending time with Boy, and wife..

at a 108 degrees on average right now, so its too hot to do yard work or be outside , since i work in it during the week,

I have been comfortably assembling the Baler and the Shear in the comfort of 76 degree ac, and detailing up the diorama  of the Wrecked mans treasure Junkyard from henceforth be short end to The "WMT ScrapYard"

DCC++ shields compared

I've discovered just how poor the performance of the default Arduino motor shield in a DCC++ Base Station is and the fact that there are great alternatives out there. Fast forward to the conclusion: skip the L298-based shields and go to the other shield suggested in the documentation (Pololu MC33926).

Central Vermont Paint Color

I'm actually planning to repaint and custom decorate diesel locomotives in Central Vermont Green & Yellow paint scheme from the 1980s. However, I have a hard time finding the right color.

Does anybody have an idea which color or mix is suitable for the CV Larson Green?

the Scrap metal is actual scrap shards from metal milling. For the ground coverage i combined Woodland Scenics Fine Turf,-  Soil, Earth and burnt grass , medium green. and some saw dust

sprayed it down with some Alcohol mix , and glue water mix applied with a squirt bottle. Background is actual

On my workbench

Here is a current project I’m working on. This car is an Athearn Genesis car I’ve had, but never had applied weathering to it until yesterday. Of course not finished, I still have to paint the wheels and trucks, plus spray some dirt around the bottom of the car. The car so far has been done with two colors to simulate rust, then some rust streaks added, plus Vallejo rust texture for some rust spots, and streaking grime by AK Interactive for spillage:

LED lighting for a wet Oregon day

I just read Joe’s article about Shadowboxing valance type things.  Great article if you all haven’t read it do your self a favor and subscribe to MRH Extra.   So Joe said he’s using 3000k lighting to go for that bright summer morning look.   I want to model a dreary wet miserable day in Oregon when the sky’s are dark and you don’t wanna go outside. Been in Texas the past 5 years, coming from PDX and the seasons are night and day and I never thought I’d say that I miss the rain but I do now.

Unknown Trackside Object

Attached is a photo of a layout with an object that is unknown to me.  I don't know what the object is, or it's purpose.  It sort of looks like a clothesline with chains hanging from the horizontal pipe.  (I know it's not a clothesline :o)  Can someone please identify the metal structure that spans above the track? Thank you.
